Question, I am new on the BMW scene, but I have seen a lot of M3, M5, or M6 items on regular BMWs. Is this a cool thing to do, to imatiate another car?I know this guy that works in the same company I work at and he has all this M3 kits, the rims, spoiler (you get the picture), everything except for the engine and bodyframe (4 door, just learned that just about every M3 is a 2 door, see I told you I was new to the BMW scene). Why spend the money to do that when you can save it and buy the M-series you want? Help me to understand all you BMW heads out there. Don't worry some of the Germans over here do it too, but I just want to understand why people do such a crazy (this is crazy in my opinion) thing.
Thanks for reading.... |

You shure its not the M Sport kit you are seeing ? Also, if say the M3 style wheels look good, why not fit them to your 320i ??

There are two groups, one which uses M parts on non-M cars and others who put actual M badges on a non-M cars. I have some M parts on my car because I like them, but I don't represent my car as an "M" model.

its a matter of what how comfortable you are with your car. you have a POS and you want something better, but can't afford it, so you pose.
i have a m-tech kit but that doesn't mean i want to stick a M badge on my car to pass it off as a M. like my canto brother said, i put it on my car cause i like it. but i know and i don't try to pass off my car as a M. |

I'm in the same group as Danny. I have the M-Tech body kit, and plan to add the interior bits and pieces. I don't have an M badge though and never consider my car an M car. I think they add a sporty/aggressive look to the car, while keeping the OEM element.

and then you have people who cut in M grilles on the front fenders, but an M bulge hood on their car, put a quad exhaust on it, and M mirrors
and then claim they're not trying to copy an M car, they're just trying to express themselves (like the guy with an E46 a while back) |

I'm thinking about buying the e92 M3 when it comes out. But I'm going to mod it by debadging, and putting 328/335 base model front bumper, sideskirts and rear. It's gonna look sweet!
