Adding 10" W6 to 335 Sedan
Hey Guys,
I'm in the process of getting my 335i sedan, and I want to start planning out my audio setup. I had two 12" W3's in my WRX, powered by a JL 500.1 but I recently sold those subs and got a 10" W6 from a friend of mine. I want to add this to the 335 if it isn't going to take up a ton of room... Does anyone make a corner box? Is the 500.1 going to put out too much power for that sub? Anyone have any pictures of their 10" sub installed in a sedan? Thanks, Mike |

I think that the 500/1 will be good for a JL 10W3V3. Too much power is not really a problem. Underpowering is generally worse.

You have to go custom for an enclosure on the side...as for the amp, you'll be fine. Just make sure you adjust the gains properly.

I would go for three 10W3V3s.

VP Electricity's test enclosure with ID10D4V.3 sub...
Details still are being worked out (i.e. carpet color), but sound and integrated-wise this is it. The bass comes loud and clear thru the rear seats bulkhead (no folding rear seats) without being either muffled or overbearing if tuned right; no remote bass volume is used in my system and only half of the max 250W RMS is input. This is the missing sub bass that the SWS-8 tries to replicate but it just can't by nature. However, by adjusting the SWS-8 more towards the midbass they deliver it tight after this ID10 installation. Perhaps is the capabiliy of my bit one processor to better adjust what the user wants to do but the SWS-8 can deliver strong mid bass. Maybe it will not be as accurate as other dedicated midbass drivers but it really does it quite convincing. As the trunk space occupied well, see the photos. Low profile, trunk remains usefull, even OEM. The enclosure does not bolt into anything, either snaps tight into that space or tighter with velcro strips in the backside grabbing the trunk carpet side trim. |

We are working out the tooling costs - this one was handmade, but we will be making them in a tool at a pro glass factory. Don't want to take this one into the ditch, so I will most the info soon in a new thread.
One kink is, I don't know that a W6 is gonna fit. What depth is it? |

How easy is this to pull off when you need to access your battery? You using a lot of slack underneath with banana clips?

I had my custom box built by TPLSM3 over on the 1 series addicts forum. Still waiting for it to arrive, but it's a corner box, so I still have access to my entire trunk.

W6 vs TW5
I was considering getting the JL StealthBox for the 3-Series sedans until yesterday when I listened to a demo box of the 13TW5 subs. They didn't sound as fluid as the 10W6.
A friend of mine just put a 10W6 powered by a 500/1 in his 135i conv, and it sounds great. Since this thread was started at the beginning of this year, can I assume that you've got your 10W6 and 500/1 installed in your sedan? How is the sound? I may end up doing something very similar. |

Great! I already have a JL Audio 300/2 that I could use to power the 10W6. Will that be enough? or do I need to upgrade to a XD600/1 or HD750/1?
