Warranty Extended on HPFP for MY09 N54

We know that BMW has extended the warranty of high pressure fuel pumps on MY07 and 08 models. But the ones who has MY09 are left out.

Not anymore, I just received a letter from BMW stating that they are extending the warranty on MY09 as well. Good stuff to hear.

I have a May 2009 build, and just received the same letter in the mail.

I've always wondered how the N54 received so many international awards with this known problem. Is this only an issue in the states? Are there similar reports in other countries?

Same way Toyota got clean bill of health after unintended acceleration reports first started showing up. Ever heard of greasing the elbows?

Isn't there a new HPFP made by Continental? I'm in for service in a few and wanted to request the new part number. I know I've seen it on here, but as you can imagine a search for HPFP returns a billion results.

Anyone have the new part number? And/or has anyone had it installed yet?

One more question, isn't the ticking from the front passenger side of the engine bay caused by the HPFP? If so, hopefully the new one is quieter as well. The car already sounds bad enough from the outside with the wastegate ticking.

just so you know i have this long crank symptom and drop by the dealer. master tech told me, just wait and see until they come up with solution. the one ending 943 supposedly fix all issue and they've been advise not to use hpfp with older/previous part numbers but that doesn't tell that 943 is PROVEN TO WORK.

Sorry, but you can't just go to the dealership and request the latest and greatest HPFP. They will turn you away in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the info guys. Appreciate it.

Thanks for the obvious Ramble, you can keep it to yourself. FYI, I'm throwing the 2FBF code, and getting long cranks.

Is this warranty extension letter only applicable for US residents? I have not received this letter and interested to know if anyone in Canada received it?

July 09 production and i just got my letter as well

Everytime a new HPFP is released BMW requires every dealership to cease selling/installing and return the superceeded part #. Chances are you'll be getting the newest pump if you are bringing it in.

I just got my car back and they put the new part number 943 but it took 5 days to get the new HPFP. At first the SA told me that there was no extended warranty on the pump, but he realized I had done some research, thanks to the guys here, and stopped bsing me about the classic symptoms in my car.

My HPFP on MY09 gave out, and I got the new part number ending in 943. 5 days seems like along time, I got my car done in a few hours.

I also got the letter in the mail, coincidentally right after I got my car back.

We'll see how everything goes.. Only had the new pump for about 2 weeks so far.

So frustrating how the SA's at the Stealerships can be so deceiving...

Does anyone know if BMW Canada is honoring this as well?

(I'm told they are a separate entity from BMW North America, despite Canada being part of North America... go figure.)

Only applicable to North America.

At least in Europe, BMW is not offering this extension.

You can always try... BMW wants to keep customer's happy. They might help you based on customer satisfaction....
