Battlefield: Bad Company 2
What do you guys think of this game? It looks like the gameplay has better details - i.e., the buildings can collapse if shot by tanks.
I'm still at lv 50 with MW2 and has not prestige yet. I'm afraid to buy another FPS game until I'm done with MW2 because it's hard to switch between the twos - control-wise.[u2b]<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/U5B0dTNq_m8&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/U5B0dTNq_m8&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>[/u2b] |

My $.02 based on the CoD series vs my experience in BFBC and what I've seen from BFBC2:
BFBC seemed a bit more arcadey and fast-paced. CoD seemed like it was trying to be a bit more realistic. However, WaW was an epic fail as far as the balancing of the power of the weapons, and MW2 isn't a whole lot better. I guess I'm just pissed that it still takes stopping power to get a body shot kill with an M2 on somebody without juggernaut. That may be nitpicking, but it's enough to get me to shift back over to the BFBC titles. Like you, I can't keep switching back and forth, so I have to pick one or the other. I'm sure you won't be disappointed in it. I know a couple people who have it, who have been playing the CoD series forever, and they have nothing but great things to say about it. |

I feel like MW2 is totally arcade inspired. They added a lot more fluorescent color to the game in small but noticeable places.
I'm going to give BC2 a shot. COD is on its way out of the PC market, and is just a total console game now. Also, from a tech perspective, BC2 is going to be more future proof since it has DX11. Tessellation is the future.

Speaking of DX11, one of the things that's got me on the fence about which platform to get this for is that my 4870 does everything just fine right now, and essentially I'd be putting down $400+ just to get the full effect of DX11 features in BFBC2. I'm just not sure if it's worth it yet. |

The only problem that I have with non dedicated server is that I have no idea how the maps are chosen on this game. There are maps that a repeated over and over again. No joke, I played three games in a row in the terminal once. |

Dude this is bullshit. This launch for PC has been bad. Reminds me of what happened to AoC, where it's buggy, glitchy launch killed it. I hope the same doesn't happen in this game. AoC has 100x the potential of WoW.

The game itself is simply amazing though, so much fun. Theirs so much to do, gets pretty intense at times. Would take this over cod any day. |

I played BF since BF2 and MW since the original MW. I remember when switching to MW that I got bored a lot faster w/ MW.
Same thing w/ MW2. After going 46-0 I figured there was nothing else to accomplish (besides calling a nuke or getting other badges and tags). The fact that it was a domination game and I was just sitting in the corner of a warehouse amplified how ridiculous that game could be. Along w/ the crappy match up system, TONS of hackers on the PC, and the stupidity of somebody coming at me w/ akimbo weapons. That said, BC2 feels more arcade-like than BF2. I hate the lack of select-fire and prone. I don't like the fact that both sides start w/ the same basic weapons (I liked the Russian vs. Chinese vs. US weapons in BF2); this was also something I had issue w/ MW. The server browser is still bad. Joysticks (at least old ones) do not work w/ the game. But the game is WAY more interactive than MW2 both with the new collapsable environments and squad-oriented play. Finally, VEHICLES. Those are what made the BF series huge. I haven't played for a few days because of the connection problems... but they are being fixed and I can't wait to get back in.

The game's alright. Expected it to be vehicle based but it didn't really turn out that way. There are some definite servers issues ie connection issues and lag. If u just want a new game to run around and shoot at people Bad Company 2 is what you need

I LOLed at that. Makes it sound like you are an old timer. Hell I been playing it since BF 1942...does that make me a grandpa?
Anyway been playing for a week now. But with the connection issues just kills my motivation to play a multiplayer game and just keep playing single.

I have been playing BFBC2 and MW2 all day long LOL. They are both pretty fun.
The animation and smoothness in MW2 is better. Characters move more fluidly. The gun and explosion sound effects in BC2 are amazing. For multiplayer I would probably go with MW2, because that's what 9 out of 10 people are going to be playing for the next 2 years - until MW3 comes out. Oh and the destroyable buildings in BC2 are the shit. That is something that needs to be in MW3. There is nothing more funny than having a bunch of dudes run into a building and then bringing the entire building down on top of them. |

Maybe it's just my background in the Corps, but I can't take any FPS like this seriously without a prone position. Call it bitching or whatever, but I just can't seem to get past it. |
