BMW Performance Exhaust

I wasn't brave enough to go with a non-OEM exhaust for warranty purposes, so wasn't expecting much, but I have been pleasantly surprised.

Stays tame up to about 2500rpm, but after that it's amazing. There is a small little rattling sound at around 1000rpm.

Is there an adjustment or break-in period with an exhaust? Will that rattling sound eventually go away?

Rattling sound is coming from your ashtray and rear center console...Stuff the ashtray with a little towel and do the same to the rear center console and your rattle will be gone

Oh and by the way, I noticed that the exhaust didn't come with a valve on the driver's side. What are you supposed to do with vacuum line after install? I forgot to see where the guy tucked it away.

I was considering the BMW performance exhaust too. Does the sound get annoying at high RPMs? I can't stand those loud droning exhaust.

Not at all. There is definitely a difference in sound with the windows up. You can only hear it with WOT. For every day driving, you barely notice it. Even at highway speeds, the difference is not very noticeable. With the windows open, it's a different story.

It gets sealed off and tucked into the fender well. The guy probably just folded it in half and zipped tied it. Just reach your hand back there and you will feel it. Id love to get the bmw exhaust.

I used to live on Goddard ave right by jamaica pond.

Actually, there's a rod on the exhaust that the vacuum line plugs into. They really thought of everything! I had a diff exhaust on before so I was already using their plug for the line, but mine definitely has a provision for the line to attach.

Sounds like I'll be ordering one soon. I was on the fence about it, but since it's close too stock I'll have to get one.

The sound NEVER gets annoying. Its very well thought out. Ar low RPMs you almost can't hear it (in fact, you do, but the sound is very unobtrusive).

Okay, I'm using this thread as my play-by-play.

Day 2: Started the car... OMG!!! I felt bad because I scared an elderly gentleman getting into his Buick. He shook his head at me. Once the car warms up, it quiets down.

On the highway, it stays pretty quiet, no drone, but above 90mph, you start to hear it a little, but the wind noise also balances it out. If you just tap the gas a little bit, it says hello again.

Basically, it's a fairly tame exhaust in terms of noise and only presents itself above 3000rpm. As for performance gains, can't tell any difference. I'm already running a JB+ at 75% and DCI and am plenty happy with the gains.

I'd say it's a good exhaust for those who are worried about warranty issues (like myself).

Scared an old guy in a buick.....

I do agree that on cold startup this exhaust sounds pretty agressive. I have an E90 so mine came with the E92 midpipes as well. Once the car warms up to its normal operating temp it sounds like pure tuned sex! Little bit of gurgle when your feathering the gas around town, barely louder then stock cruisnig at 80 MPH (Auto), then at WOT just

I've been thinking about getting it for the same warranty reasons... I do however love the sound of the stock exhaust. I'm not concerned at all about it being too loud or droning, I just want more sound!

That being said, is it definitely noticable over stock? I think the stock exhaust sounds great for being stock, sounds like pure german power. Can I expect the same from the BMW-P exhaust?
