Sac Raceway v4 testing update

Hi guys,
Did some testing Wednesday night at Sac Raceway. Was running stg 4+ map with all the usual mods (stage 3 plus meth). It was a really busy night and track prep was bad so my 60' times were nothing worth mentioning (1.9-2.5s). I only got 5 runs with ETs varying from 12.0 to 12.7. But the power was there with trap speeds of:

118.902 (missed 3rd to 4th gear shift)
122.900 (bad 2nd to 3rd shift)
123.240
123.296
123.298

Not sure what it means, but the tune was, by far, the most consistent thing in the car

Going back soon when the track is less packed and better prepped to hopefully better the 11.800 I got the last time I was there.

Also, a 6AT customer came out with me as well to run his car for the first time at the track. He is running Full stg 3 mods running Stg 4+ map for the last two runs of the night. His traps were 119.4 and 119.9mph. With better timed shifts, a bit more practice and a good launch, we hope to see him run deep in the 11s with 120-121mph traps soon. There a few 6AT-specific things I'd like to try as well. I think the current maps are a bit too conservative above 6000rpm.

There were a few other fast running 335s out there as well (including Mr.5). So our cars were certainly well represented. Lots of people were shocked to see our unassuming mid-sized sedans/coupes run as fast as they do.

Going back soon to test the new maps which should be released within the next 7-10 days. New features as well.

Cheers,

Shiv

I'm amazed at the 60' times Mr. 5 got. Unbelievable. Especially in the colder temps. I think on Wednesday evening it was around 45-52F.(-600FT to -1100 FT DA) Unfortunately on Saturday it will be in the 60F+ range.

Mr. 5 had a portable DA calculator with him. But I don't think it was that low. You could probably ask him what it was exactly. What's interesting is that my trap speeds remain constant regardless of ambient conditions. At least up to 70F. And yeah, summer DAs in Colorado or horrific. I remember gettting winded just running up a flight of stairs

Yeah, and our stupid track starts at 6000 feet above sea level. I gotta get to Bandi in the early season to catch the cooler temps.

Is anyone going next Wednesday? I'll be there again testing out my new JB3 2.0 (ran 1.4 this past Wed with a best time of 12.4 @ 122 mph) It would be fun to see if we can get some 335's paird up (Just for fun of course)

Its seems interesting that he said the best DA was about -325ft. Wasn't temps in the forties after the sun went down?

I've already done a 11.800. And a few 11.8x-11.9x. And we have several customers who have trapped 120 or higher which would translate to a 11.7-11.8et. I just don't know of any who actually care enough to purchase dedicated drag wheels/tires which are almost necessary to run 11s. I'd rather spend the cash on real racing tires myself. Or a complete rebuilt on my ICC 125cc shifterkart engine

Wow that is pretty fast. Is it with methanol injection like Shiv? If so do you think it is worth the install time and trouble?

This is one of the reasons why it's good to have a good weather meter because the temp/humidity/ etc that is advertised by local weather stations don't necessarily go with actual ressure and temps of the exact location.
I'm not saying that the pressure was low because it was actually really good. It was fluctuating between 30.01 and 30.02 the entire night.

The lowest temp of the night was 58 degrees so it makes me wonder where the weather stations are recording their temps. A lot of the places are taken from the nearest airport and if the meter is high off the ground then I could see how the temps would be a lot lower.
When I get home, I'll provide all of the variables from my meter because I took a snap shot before each run.
The meter that I have is brand new and was calibrated just before it left to go to my house. The calibration is traceable to NIST, which is the National Institute of Standards and Technology so it is extremely accurate.
Having said all of this, the conditions were great and I trapped higher on a map that was giving less boost.

It was pretty cool to see you again Shiv and I was very impressed with your 123 traps. Hopefully I can get a higher boost map for my race gas/meth file and see where I can go from there.
This was my best run of the night BTW.

Borrowed my buddies hoosiers, they made a HUGE difference. My next mod will be Meth, hoping to get Mr.5 numbers

Get your runs in now! The track was trashed by the end of last seaons, I couldn't get 60' times under 1.9 due to the rubber build up.

Wow, nice reaction times Mr. 5!!!

I doubt it was calibrated at NIST but rather the meter is NIST traceable?

Do you already have your 2.0? You should go up tomorrow!

Also, Craig, did the 58F temp reading correlate pretty closely with your ambient temp reading in your dash? Its baffling how the drag times temp chart for the day in Sacramento can be so far off, when in the past, I have found it pretty accurate. Maybe there was a cold air pocket around the airport?

Shiv, did you happen to see your outside temp reading?

You're correct. Sorry about that. I edited my post.
That would be a costly calibration lol.

You know, I didn't even look. I had the meter so I didn't even bother.
I also had the airbag light on all the time too (front seat out), which was hiding the temp so I didn't even think about it.

It looks like Hotrod is on his way up there right now.
Are you going back Shiv?

He finally got a boost gage so it will be interesting to see what he is boosting these days.

Yep... I'm already here. Line lock did wonders. No more spinning in 1st and 2nd. Trapping at 125-126 today. Too much traction at the launch now. Launching at 4000rpm bogs. 11.8s with a 1.9x 60'. Fingers crossed for a 1.6x and a 11.3-11.4et. Unlikely I know

Warren is here too! He should be really quick today.
