Do you miss not having a block heater?

Evidently there is no block heater available for the E90. Even though I use synthetic oil in all my vehicles, I will still plug them in if the car is going to cold soak at anything less than -20C. The block heater just makes the cold start that much easier on the car. How does the E90 do on those frigid mornings?

I had a block heater in my QX4, worked really well. The temp needle would move within the first km of driving as well as start blowing warm air. I forgot to unplug it one day though and bent the prongs

Is there really no block heater available as of yet for E90s? Or just in Canada?

Yes I miss it on my E46.

Yes it started with no fuss all the time.

No it didn't warm up quick enough like my previous car did; at the corner of the street, the temp gage was climbing. Much longer with my Bimmer.

Every winter I see at least one car dragging an extension cord.

I searched the threads and it came up with nothing. One guy in Finland has an aftermarket electic heating pad of some sort installed on his car, but there is no BMW one available.

At least your E46 has a temperature guage.

But as some consolation, the heated seats in a BMW are fantastic, they seem to warm up really fast and all the way up the back and sides. Infiniti heated seats are pathetic by comparison.

Edit: The heating pad you mentioned may just be an electric heated battery blanket. A bit inconvenient since it's in the trunk and under a panel but I guess less work than opening the hood day in day out.
