What Clutch Did I Go With? And The Answer is...
Alright, I got a lot of requests asking what clutch company I went with on my car and what clutch in particular. Did I go with a light weight flywheel? I feel like if I tell one then I should tell everyone. I went with Clutch Masters. I felt they simply were the best clutch company out there, they have an enormously diverse lineup to fit everyone's need, they have a light weight flywheel, and they are simply respected by every company out there.
Here is a picture. Some will pick up why this clutch is unique on the N54 quickly. Last edited by Former_Boosted_IS; 03-18-2010 at 06:33 PM.. |

I contacted them a while back but they told me that I needed to give them a flywheel before they could do anything.
It never happened.

This is the Twin Disk Series 850 from Clutch Masters. It has a segmented kevlar unsprung hub clutch disk and ceramic sprung hub clutch disk. These are also 8.5" disks allowing unbelievable grip without needing tremendous pedal pressure. It comes with the clutches, pressure plate, light weight flywheel, throwout bearing / release lever, flywheel bolts, pressure plate bolts, and alignment tool. This is a very complete kit. |

I will get into all that info in my review. They have quite an extensive lineup from single segmented kevlar to six puck ceramic, you can you the stock flywheel or their lightweight flywheel, then they have 3 twin disk clutch options from the FX600 (6" twin disk) to the FX850 (8.5" twin disk).

A twin disk comes in three sizes from Clutch Masters. They have a 6" called the FX600, 7" they call the FX700, and the 8.5" big boy called the FX850. With a bigger disk, you can lower the force required for the pressure plate and hence the pedal pressure. Second, you can minimize engagement chatter and gear noise because you can use multiple materials and combos of sprung and unsprung hubs. Finally, they can hold a boat load of power.
Clutch Masters will also be releasing an electronic device soon that will slowly release the hydrolic fluid to eliminate engagement chatter all together. Clutch Masters really is the king of the clutch world in my opinion. |
