BMS intake is the cause of my rough cold starts says SA
My sa just called saying my bms intake is the cause of my rough cold starts according to a bulletin released by BMW na. I like how they previously replaced a hpfp injectors and plugs with the intake on but now all of a sudden the intake is the problem. Dude is full of shit and he better not call me back denying warranty work because it'll be WW3 up in there.
What do you guys think does he have a valid point?

Total crap. I'd love to see the bulletin he is referring to.
More importantly, why on earth would you leave any aftermarket parts on your car when taking it into the dealer???? Even if your dealer seems cool with your installs, when it comes time to start denying work orders, it only takes a finger to point in the wrong direction, and you are usually on the losing end when the fist soon follows....Good luck!

Mine is at the dealer right now, they previously hinted at the afe dci I had in there as being a possible reason as to why the car was ticking upon start up. So I took it out and gave the car in this way giving them less to point at, lets see what they say tomorrow..
Oh I forgot to add the charge valve snapped away from the intake manifold (have no idea how), I just played stupid and did not mention anything other than a half engine light which comes on. Problem is the previous times the car has gone in they have known the car had the Afe DCI installed, now technically its removed, back to complete stock, unless they have pictures of it previously in their hands I really do not think they can prove otherwise. I would love to know what they have on file for me, i.e) whether "customer had air intake" and so forth... My advice is take out the BMS and take it to another dealer.... I was told they cannot read each others notes... unless of course this is untrue?? |

I really don't get why a dealer would deny service. correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the dealership get paid to work on warrenty cars from BMW? If that logic is true then I'd service a turd with a new hpfp as long as if I got paid from BMW to do it.

I'm gonna have to agree with BMW here. I think they have a valid point if you brought your car in with an aftermarket intake. The rough starts a probably due to HPFP or injectors but giving the fact you came in with probably the #1 most noticable warranty denying product, you just gave them an excuse to not help you. The intake takes a matter of minutes to swap out back to stock, I can understand if you went in with DP's on, but an intake . . . . I just hope for your sake, they do not flag your car for future warranty work done to your engine.
