Bad day at the track

I got out there last night and waited an hour and a half to make one run becuase some ideot spilled oil/coolant all over the track by too much boost in a mustang. Then after my first I had to leave or I wouldnt have been able to get up at 6 this morning. On top of that I didnt even get a good run.... I ran a 13.2 @116 on the 24ohm (map9) because I spun first pretty bad I guess thats what I get for running 19's on cooper zeon's (245's) and not having been to the track since october. It cost $25 to get in too

What track is that? Excellent trap speed. With traction, that can be low 12's even high 11's.

Gateway in Il right outside of stl. That was what I was hoping for. I just uploaded 2.0 on the 24ohm and was going to switch to the 18ohm and start at map7 and work up if the car was feeling it (which I am sure it would since I had access to ms109).

Went to the dragstrip Saturday morning in my GT500. First pass I missed third, but not a bad run otherwise. The second pass was when the excitement kicked in.

My launch in the left lane was good. Shift to second resulted in some wheel spin, which I expected. Shift into third the rear end was a little squirrelier than normal, nothing major. BUT, when I shifted into fourth, the rear end kicked out to the right. Now THAT I did not expect. Then the whole damn car acted like it wanted to swap ends. I let off the gas; did not hit the brakes; I had no clue where the Mustang was in the right lane. I glanced in my mirror - he backed way off when he saw what was happening (whew).

I was trying like hell not to over-correct. I know my eyes were as big a saucers. Car acted like it was going to straighten out but then started up with the swerving again before it finally settled down. Don't know how fast I was going when it started fishtailing but I coasted to a 12.181 at 101.93 while trying to get my car under control.

I've made at least 30 passes previously in this car so I knew I didn't have the power to kick the rear out on a 3-4 shift. Found out that the car ahead of me broke a hose and lost coolant right about where I made my shift. Track was shut down for 45 minutes while they cleaned it up. Took me almost as long to clean my drawers. I’ll never complain again about how long track clean-up takes.

Wow, luckily gateway is always 100% on top of things of that nature. Guess I should count my blessings.

go to the track enough and you'll expect at least 1 bad breakdown a night that takes an hour to clean up. I just hope it happens when my car is hot so I get good cool down time.

I had gone every tuesday last season and only had a few break downs and zero accidents minus one guy fliping his bike off the start.

I guess that's what I've gotten used to at the track that I go to. Too many guys bring their POS up there that they just got running an hour prior to the races and too many don't realize to STOP when they break something.

I ran map9 on the 24ohm, vk dp's, RR exhaust, bms log intake, coolingmist standard kit (150psi pump), and a bms sticker (10 hp right there). I was also running 19" csl's with 245/35/19 cooper zeon's
