Which tires to buy from tirerack?
My rear potenzas are done and I need to change them.
My car didnt have the sport pack, so I bought a set of 162's with tires. Now that I need to change them, and I saw the price of those RF tires, well, out the door they go. that 140 wear just gave it away, not getting into it again. I drive mainly city, maybe once to NY per year. I dont speed, dont drive like a maniac and dont track! LOL Im looking for something that can last me the 3 summers I have left on the lease. And something that holds well under rain... I dont know if this summer is gonna be the same, but last summer it rained at least 3 times a week. Shoot your ideas... What I need in size is 225-40-18 and 255-35-18. Thanks a lot! |

Hankook Ventus V12 EVO have some good reviews, and should cost $800 to $1000 all in (depending on size), delivered to you door in Canada.

Michelin PS2, with no doubts. Friend has it on his Cayman, I drove it a long week-end and even if the tires we're worn (4-5/32) i was nowhere near slipping... even with light rain.
Treadwear is 220 I believe.. so depending on how much you drive... can't really recommend a tire that has longevity and max performance. |

Best deal out there. They are rated 2nd with the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 as the benchmark The Dunlop Direzzas were rated #1 but the tires cost significantly more. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...12_evo_page_10

My bad, I misread
"I dont speed, dont drive like a maniac and dont track! LOL" Forget the PS2 not worth it. |

+1 but with your driving you can probably drop to a lower performance rated tire and not really have a problem. it'd probably give you a more comfortable ride too.

Thank you so much for your help guys.
it's pretty even with between the Evos and the Eagle F1 asymmetric. Any of these 2 sets would cost me less than only 2 rear potenzas from the stealership. So that already has me breathing a little better. I can get a discount from tirerack, so the Evos would cost me around 600 shipped and everything. There was a warning notice saying that they could be giving a harsher ride. Would it be harsher than those potenzas RFTs I have now? In my mind, the noise and the harshness is kinda hard to beat right now! LOL Keep shooting your ideas! THanks again! |

I don't know about the current generation Goodyear F1's, but the old generation had a very stiff sidewall. Better ride than RFT, but still harsh in my books. The trade off is razor sharp transitions.
Personally, I loved the ride of the Toyo T1s better. More supple and comfy. Not as good dry grip for sure, but very little jaw jarring when going over potholes.

Okay, so I've read and read on tirerack between both tires suggested.
I think I'll go with the Evos. I'm placing my order tonight. Hoping it's gonna last me the 3 summers I have left on the car. Thanks again for all the help guys! All that knowledge in one place! Will keep you updated on first hand impressions! |

Send the tires to FreeportForwarding just accross the lacolle border, save taxes and shipping fees (compared to shipping to canada). get them installed in plattsburgh and dont pay duties neither when you come back.
Of course ditch the old tires. |
