Sat nav unit removal?

Anyone know how to remove the sat nav unit (dvd drive) from a 2005 E90?

If i disconnect the unit from the loom, will it need to be recoded again?

You need to prise away the unit below the climate controls, then pull out the climate unit to access the DVD drive screws - climate unit fiddly and tight but it does come out eventually.

No recode necessary if you disconnect the DVD unit, but I think you get problems if you disconnect the climate unit

Hi
First disconnect battery. remove central trim, becareful not to damage it. Also need to disconnect the Start/stop button, the DTC/hazard connetors, which are at the rear of each unit. Once central trim is removed, you should now be able to remove heating control, which simply clips off. Also remove connectors at the back of heating unit. You now have to unclip the panel that sits in front of your navigation unit. Please remember the clips are at the bottom, see diagram

Once you have unclipped this, then you can unscrew the Fillister screws that hold the unit in place. Also remove connectors at the back of this unit. Hope it helps, good luck....

Just stick the trim removal tool behind the trim bit and push it out, it just pops in and out, lever it out from the side where the push start button is.
