mp3 players
OK, I have not been keeping up with the digital music revolution so am not up to date on MP3 players. Right now I just record mp3's to a disc and play the CD in my car. However, I plan on getting an MP3 player for my son (9 years old and loves music, specially 80's music! LOL).
My main concern is compatability with different formats. Most music will be bought at Rhapsody or maybe iTunes. We will also have "ripped" CD's in standard mp3 format. Shoud I stick with iPod or are the others (Samsung, Creative, etc) worth the sometimes cheaper price |

I debated between Creative Labs and IPOD for along time... I ultimately got a Nano and am extremely happy with it. The new 8gig I think is a bargain for about $250.
When I showed it to a friend of mine he went out and got one and loves his as well. |

Don't know but mayeb you must know how your son keeps and protects his things first. Got my younger sister (age 14 at that time) 2 ipod nano's already and now she's on her thrid one. one was lost in her school and one was left outside in the mud and rain. Really can't afford to buy her another one

I would look into Apple or Creative Labs they make good stuff. I think Microsoft has something coming out too called Zune or something. Check out CNET.com for some reviews of a bunch of stuff. I went with an iPod because it works well at the gym. I HATE iTunes though. It's slow and it sucks. And don't download from them get bearshare or something like that, some people use limewire I just prefer bearshare.

The Microsoft Zune is suppose 2 be pretty nice, I want to use it in person, I was thinking of replacing my iRiver H320 because my battery died, but I'd rather just spend the $30 and replace the battery then spend $300 and buy another MP3 player..

uhh... ipods are somewhat overrated but they are the most customizable... i mean if u get an ipod, your gonna get a case (unless you dont care about scratching it), possibly a car charger, fm tuner, etc.... whereas other mp3s arent as versatile but they might be more usable... and ideal... the pricing on ipods have a pretty big range but in all honesty u dont wanna go cheap on an mp3 player... invest your money in it because its something you'll keep for at least two or three years... and maybe more than that

not really a dedicated MP3 player, but the SE W810i Walkman phone is great. I got a 2gb card and ready to go with music at anytime..

Has anyone used the Creative MuVo plus? I am doing some X-mas shopping and debating the iPod shuffle vs. Creative MuVo plus.

I have a 4GB card in my PSP and it's great as an MP3 player. Tons of photos, Videos, and Music. Data transfer is pretty fast also.
