I'm no expert, but unfortunately I think you need a visit to the garage.

If you've got a warranty I'd go straight down to the dealer, they will put it on a diagnostic machine and tell you exactly what the problem is - then get it fixed.

I presume Limp mode.

Did it clear once turned off then on again?! Could be anything. Could be something simple.

Petrol or diesel?

If it's BMW warranty, call road side assist.

It's AA 5 star warrenty, not sure if they offer that service?
To be honest not sure if BMW will honour this warrenty

Oh ok. Then probably something more serious. Book it in first thing in the morning and dont do any mileage today.

Have a good look under the bonnet, check nothings come unconnected.

Is the car vibrating at all? Is a cylinder down do you think!?

Hey dxb335d,

I'm not sure about cyclinders,I'm not very car minded.

I will take it to the garage in the morning,I hope it's something small?

Thank you for your help and advice

Hmmm, you could always wheel it on the road and then call them!!!

I'm a little confused, do you have any BMW warranty on the vehicle at all or just AA? Don't think that you would have both. Bit like having your car insured twice [by different companies]!

From your sig, is it still a 4 cylinder petrol you have? (318i?) if so - check the sticky post about sudden loss of power etc and just cross everything you have that it's not that.

Let us know how you get on once the dealers open up again.

Hey guys,

Thank you for your advice.

Hey coopersE90 I have no idea,I know nothing about cars to be honest!

I hope a BMW garage can see me sooner rather then later as my wide won't let me rest until I have her car back up and running lol.

I will keep you posted

thanks

Harry

Same Problem in Dublin

Same Problem just picked up a 2008 316i se...(Irish spec)
After 170km, same malfunction Lights
Brought back to Garage, Murphy & Gunn, Miltown, Dublin 6
was told would need a 7hr-8hr software upgrade????? (BS I think)
Picked after 2 days, was assured by garage that Munich has authorised the full upgrade of 220 items....
Drove 1km and malfunction light came on. Drove a few more km )traffic prevented a turn back ) and more malfunctions lights and serious loss of power in heavy traffic... Limped back to garage Murphy & Gunn in Dublin.

Sales bloke as livid with the service desk....

Why would such a malfunction have escaped the rigorous !!! 127 point BMW Premium Used Car Service???

Any update on your problem????

I'm a tad pissed off and losing faith in BMW and Murphy & Gunn Service Dept

They have lent me a 318d for a week while they decide what to do with it. Presumably Munich will dictate the proceedings

Any similar stories and updates??/

Thanks
