meth kit installed - SOS light showing?
After i installed the CMGS meth kit i now see an SOS light on the dash (not SES). it's like a steering wheel with letters SOS and a phone with a line going through them as in crossed out.
No issues with the car, drives fine, volume and bluetooth don't work though. The only thing i can think of is i tapped into a 10A fuse but I'm not sure maybe when i did this I didn't put it back to the same slot I took it from inside the fusebox. Does anyone know which fuse this may be or does anyone have a fuse box diagram showing what fuse is for what? What do u guys think? Does anyone have a fusebox diagram/legend showing what fuse is for what? Last edited by dzenno; 04-27-2010 at 09:15 AM.. |

Can you take a picture of where you tapped? Depending on the production month of and year of your car there is an empty slot for a mini fuse that is an empty ignition on circuit. I would use that instead of tapping a circuit that is already in use.
Some of thoe circuits control some pretty important systems on the car. For prod mmyy or 03/07 - 09/07 this is mini fuse slot F14. For 09/07 and all MY 2008 cars it's F5. They are both in the same location, just numbered differently. |

That means there is an issue with your TCU, located in the trunk. Check what fuse the TCU is (I don't remember, it probably has a picture of the SOS or bluetooth or something) and make sure it's seated correctly. The TCU is probably powered off now.

I'll take a photo as soon as I get back to my car..are those numbers indicated on the fuse box next to where the fuses go or is that from the diagram?
So you're saying don't tap a fuse, just add one at F5 (my car is prod 12/07) |

Yeah, its the module in your trunk that controls the bluetooth and BMW Assist (and consqeuently, your SOS error).

Totally my stupidity here...get this, I took the 20A YELLOW fuse from F15 (which disabled volume on the stereo, bluetooth and bmw assist) and THEEEN, drum roll, plugged that into the F5 slot...that's what happens after 10 hours making this install go in any case, everything is up and running now...still need to run a boost line but for this i'll do it on the inside of the car (vc2 in glovebox) and run it over to behind the p3 gauge..what do you think? should i go for the boost line on the DVs?

not running it yet, didn't get the filter yet so waiting on that to arrive before i actually run it...took over 10 hours to install, i've got sore muscles all over but i guess it was worth it...i told mike that you guys are getting an amazing deal at bimmersport at $300 for the install but i wanted to do mine myself, need money for my diff install coming up soon and i wanted to do a front engine mount (windshield washer fluid tank) instead of trunk mount as i didn't want meth anywhere but where it was meant to sit OEM..if i had to do it again it'd probably take me 4 hours
