Boy, 14, fatally shot after egging SUV

From CNN, today:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/12/03/tee....ap/index.html

Quote:
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- A 14-year-old boy who was throwing eggs at cars along with two other teenagers was shot and killed by someone who had been in a sport utility vehicle that was hit, police said.

Danny Crawford was killed by a gunshot wound to his upper body, Franklin County Coroner Brad Lewis said. He died in an alley on the city's west side early Saturday, authorities said.

The teens were throwing eggs at cars when an SUV that was struck chased them, Detective Tim Huston said. The vehicle stopped and several gunshots were fired, he said.

Police were looking for the shooter, who fled in the SUV, Sgt. Dana Norman said. The SUV believed to be involved was found a short time later near where Crawford died.

The other teens were not hurt, police said.

even using the biblical verse of "an eye for an eye", this is WAY overboard. At no time will "throw an egg" equal "get shot in the chest" unless the thrower is holding a gun in their other hand. I hope the shooter enjoys his one-way ticket to hell.

There is a giant wave of unrespectful kids in columbus, I would be very pissed if this happened to me... but i am not surprised one bit that it happened.

I was in downtown columbus a few months ago at a computer datacenter, we were in there not more than 2 minutes, i was just picking up a friend, came back down, and our car was broken into, windows smashed, and a group of 4 kids were running away... luckily i refused to take my car, because of this very reason, but unfortunatly for my friend who's car got smashed... radio was banged up but unstolen, his cell phone(s) where stolen, and he had even left his wallet in there, which was stolen.

Wow, that was a unfortunate event rixst3r.

Lets face it, when we read threads about people vandalizing, stripping, stealing each others cars, we all react with the customary, "if that happened to me.. ak-47"... well... looks like someone really wasn't joking

as stated above all cities have bad areas. if this happened to me i would of course be mad as hell, but shoot someone, no way. only way you can shoot someone dead is if your own life is in jeopardy and the last time i checked, the egg was not considered a lethal weapon. but i have to agree with above, this world or country for that matter is f-ing crazy.

I would've just chased him down, hold him at gun point and make him lick up the egg...i guarantee you he will never do that again...not need to open fire...

I wasnt over there yesterday, but i have seen one other space gray e92 car in that area, although it was a 328... so far i have only seen 2 e92's(other than mine), and one of them was being test driven... Its cool when things like that make the internet feel smaller though...

Wow this is some crazy news, it reminds me of the episode of arrested development where, George Bluth Sr. hired the man with one arm to each his children stupid lessons, but apparently this was real and someone got killed. I'm pretty sure many mothers in that city now will reference this incident to tell their kids not to pull stupid shit.

This also reminds me of that news incident, where this newlywed couple was driving to their honeymoon and the groom who as the driver of the van decides to cut off and clip off the car of a former marine, who happends to have his loaded M-16 rifle in his back seat. The former marine decided to empty his entire clip at the van that had just cut him off. He killed both the bride and groom, is now serving a life sentence.

but there was a very recent incident in NY where the cops shot at a car, unexplained, after the guys were leaving from a strip club (bachelor party thing). The groom died and his wedding was the next day. I think they all got suspended pending an investigation.

There have been reports of people getting fatally hit with bricks on the freeway. The poor teens were unlucky to encounter someone equally as stupid as they were.
