CDV Mod - New York
I'm thinking of ordering the CDV mod from Mike on n54tuning. This seems to make a world of difference on 6mt. Anyone in the upstate NY area know how to install it? THE DIY doesn't look too difficult but I don't have a jack. Any input would be great.

You might want to try posting this in the regional forum, higher chance to find a local that's willing to help you with the install.
On a related note, I want to buy the CDV delete valve as well. Lots of vendors seem to be offering their version. What's the best one out there? I wouldn't want a cheaply drilled one that might crack "down the line". Thanks, -Walter

Where in NY are you loacted? I'm in the dutchess county area and could help you install it.
The CDV install is pretty straight forward and would take probably around 30 min tops. You could try doing it with ramps but I would suggest at least picking up a jack / jackstand combo from Sears or something. As for the CDV itself, you can also reuse your existing one; All it is is a press in restricter and washer that can be pushed out. The result is essentially the same as what the vendors are selling. Edit : Here's how to modify your existing one - http://www.billswebspace.com/BMWCDVModification.htm

Not that I'm aware of though it's possible they do. With the restricter pressed out the ID was consistent the whole way through instead of tapering down; I couldn't see how machining it would allow it to perform any better without weakening the CDV itself.

BMS ports the inside for a cleaner removal of that little part that gets pushed out. I have the BMS one and can't complain for $20.
