Saying that you have a group of "diverse" friends is a racial adjective, although in this case not negative.
Why not just say, here is my group of friends? Mentioning that they are diverse is reinforcing their differences when I assume what you are trying to do is show assimilation. The two just seem at odds. |

IMO, I think you guys are looking way too far into this. I think him saying he has a diverse group of friends he means he has friends who are all different and cool in their own way. I don't think he means racially different, just personality-wise, characteristically (I don't know if that's a word, but it is now), and background-wise different. From different walks of life...

You guys are reading into it incorrectly. They are diverse in ALL ways, not just skin color.
Josh49 got it dead on. I'm not referring to "hey, look at the rainbow in MY picture! yay!". This is supposed to be a positive thread about me being thankful for having great friends, and I felt the need to share. |
