Once a year or when the on-board computer tells you. Whichever happens first. That's what my dealer always told me.
Today's cars are built to last longer between oil changes. Depending what you do with your car, and how long you will be keeping it, you would do extra oil changes in between. |

When BMW introduced free scheduled maintenance, BMWs suddenly needed much less maintenance. Imagine that, when BMW pays, maintenance is less important.
Yes, synthetic oil lasts much longer than regular oil. But most forum members will agree that 25k is too long between oil changes and life-time tranmission oil is crap. If you lease your car or expect to trade it in after 3 or 4 years, then BMW scheduled maintenance is just fine. If you plan on keeping your car 5+ years, more frequent maintenance is a good idea. And yeah, that means you'll have to pay for some of it. (for example, I change my oil twice as often as BMW suggests). Just search the forums. |

My on board computer tell me the next service will be in 2012 May, or 60K KM. I have less than 20K KM. So the computer is telling me the schedule is every 2 years or 40K km.. Does not sound right to me at all..
