Latest and final advertising project

Yeah well the creative media strategy team is retarded so don't ask about the handcuffs lol, here is what I have so far. I need to contrast exciting activities on board and relaxing actvities but I can't seem to find what I am looking for. I have been searching on getty images trying to find photos of a black and white male to photoshop in like the girls but it isn't as easy as it seems. As soon as I find that I guess I am done.

i would definitely remove those two blue lines and yellow circles that are pointing to the two parts of the ship (zoom out on the girls having fun). i think the viewer will connect the dots without those lines and the design will be a lot cleaner.

then, maybe place the girls in front of the ship, covering it slightly so that it appears in the background. since they are above it now, it kind of looks like they're stepping on it. plus, when the ship is in the background it will also explain why it's so small compare to the girls and will automatically create a mental link for the viewer that all the fun and excitement comes out of the ship.

the last thing i would change is to put the title bar with "freedom to the max" banner on either the top of the ad or above the black-and-white picture. you want to associate it with the positive image, not with the cold and negative. so when the user looks at it, they'll instantly visually connect the ocean, ship and fun girls with the royal caribbean logo and freedom to the max slogan.

just my opinion.

Everything is pushed too close to the borders too, needs more white space.

Shadows behind people are tough too because if your path isn't perfect you can see the line where you cut them out from as a white ghost line. I see this on the left girl. The heavy flat shadows also make the people look very flat and cut out looking, unless that is the desired effect.

To me it would have made more sense to follow a couple or family in different activities rather than 4 random people separately. This way it doesn't seem like certain activites are for certain people but rather gives a more general idea of what a single group can do. It also gives people someone to relate to since typically people that go on cruises are families or couples.

Yeah the idea sukcs and I can't do anything about it. The excution doesn't even matter, he said he is grading on creativity and we could even just draw it in pencil if we wanted so it doesn't have to look amazing.

Here is what I came up with trying to play around, I dunno, I'm not sure what to do with the thought bubble.

It’s a nice ad and works for what you're attempting to do. The question is are you doing a branding ad or are you doing a call to action. That’s makes all the difference in the placement or your images and what they’re trying to communicate.

From looking at the people in the cold weather, it would make me think of a call to action, because the cold weather is only here for a short while. So maybe you should say something like, “Get out of the cold and enjoy your Freedom to the Max!”

Or “Don’t get left in the cold this winter, enjoy your Freedom to the Max!” Remember a call to action makes people respond right away, because the pricing is only for a short while. Make sure you put some pricing and the dates they’re good for. Just like BMW is having their holiday sale right now. Good luck!

Yeah I don't know, I didn't do that part but I didn't even design the ad. I have no say in anything. I'm just the photoshop bitch.
