finally replaced faulty HPFP *updates*

so my car was acting up again this past weekend, rough start and idling, it's been like that since Sep of last year but this time, the fuel pump failure icon finally appeared on the trip computer....

took it into Endras 7am Monday morning and they were able to hook me up with a SX4 rental and send me on my way to work

got a call around 4pm and told me they replaced the faulty HPFP, software updated and test drive was done

It has been for almost half a year and I can finally sleep at night....

Just curious got mine replaced last week as well.

The car doesn't always idle smoothly after the new HPFP and software update, seems like a slight blip of the throttle once in a while or the opposite on occasion, not as smooth as I would like it to be after the new HPFP.

Anyone else with the same behavior?

What mileage are you guys seeing this problem at? So many HPFP replacements they should just do a recall.

I'm at 53K. No prior warning in my case compared to others. No long cranking, etc I was driving along and the reduced power code came on.

I am currently experiencing the same issue now.

I had my HPFP replaced at 42K. I have 52K on the car now.

Glad to hear ! BMW

Was hoping there was something else possibly wrong that was causing this!!! I received my Procede V4 during the HPFP fiasco and still use it as a paper weight do to the iddling issue!

I was initially told by dealership that it would go away (had noticed it the minute I got the car back) after the learn period since they updated the software. Eventhough it is better compared to beginning it is still not as smooth as one would expect.

I am taking the car into the dealership on May 26th. I will update the thread again.

I haven't noticed anything weird while driving so far, I've only gotten my car back for a day so will see... my car is now sitting at just over 40k and this problem creeped up last Sep, car had maybe low 30K back then

I've gotten my JB3 more than a mth ago and it's still sitting in my garage, not sure if I wanna put it in...

A mere 10,000 kms on my car. Car is at the dealership right now getting the HPFP changed. Used Shell 91 Octane only, never past half a tank. Didn't help.

its under the commands section for the ECU module, note this may have adverse effects for AT cars, as indicated by the corresponding note in the BT program

I hadnt started my car for a week and when i started it up this morning it had a long crank and kind of sputtered for the first few minutes of driving. I had my HPFP replaced under a recall about 15,000kms ago with no problems. Is this a sign of impending failure?

So go the car back from the dealer and they did not replace the fuel pump. Reprogrammed the fuel management software, wonder how long this is going to last

My HPFP was just replaced today at 46K. According to the invoice, Parkview replaced the software, then let the car sit overnight. The problem (rough idle, longer than normal crank time) was still present, so they replaced the HPFP with part 13-51-7-594-943. Additionally, the invoice mentions "REPLACED HIGH PRESSURE PUMP AS PER PUMA MEASURE #29789968-06". I suspect this means something like "only replace the HPFP after software upgrade doesn't solve the issue".

Parkview replaced my HPFP today as well. I have the same part number (13-51-7-594-943) but did not have "REPLACED HIGH PRESSURE PUMP AS PER PUMA MEASURE #29789968-06". The SA told me to stay away from SUNOCO 94 and start to use ESSO 91 or Petro 91. Or should I use Shell 91?

BTW, the HPFP was replaced at 24K.

Agred as I have been using Esso gas I would say 75% of time!

I was driving back from school on the HWY and since the road was pretty clear, I put my car into sports mode and floored it up to about 100 mph. All of a sudden I got a engine symbol on my dash and on the idrive. Said "Engine Malfunction, reduced power." and also engine service soon light came on as well. Once I put my car into Park, the whole car started shaking pretty violently.

I turned off the engine, waited about 10 min and started up my car again. I was welcomed with the engine symbol and the shakes again. I pulled away from my driveway and once I started going, the shakes became less apparent. However If I stop and park my car, the shaking starts up again. And also I have been hearing some squeaking noise from rare left suspension area when i drive through uneven surface.

I dont have long cranks, it starts right away but shakes alot when stopped or driven slow. Once speed is over 80kmph its normal. If any of you experienced or know the cause of this problem, please let me know.

Could this be just the injectors?
