JB3 break in period?

Just wondering if there is a break-in period for the car once you install the JB3. I didn't come across anything of the sorts on the installation guide or video, but a friend from whom I purchased the tune from said to take it easy on the car for the few hundred miles and let the ECU adapt to the tune + the intake I added. He suggested running on Map 1 for a while. I really don't want to baby the vehicle any longer, after I first installed it a few days ago I ripped it up and down the highways on Map 3 but have taken it easy since then.

Also, should I mess with the tire pressure a little bit after the install? I find myself losing traction much easier because of all of the newfound power. What do you guys have your psi levels at for front-back on the Bridgestone Botenza RSC's. Thanks a bunch.

I don't think you have to take it easy but if you romp on it right out of the gate it might not be very smooth for a little while as it learns. But it will learn faster than babying the car.

That was my experience anyway.

Switch to Map5, let the car warm up by driving(this warms up the turbos aswell) then do some WOT pulls after 3-5 it should be well adapted.

Going WOT right away will not damage your ecu, however as stated before it will not be as smooth. There is nothing wrong with going at it right away but babying it will not help either.... I know that I went WOT right after I installed it and there has been no problems so far...

Great, thanks for all the help guys. Do you guys deflate the tires a bit to help with traction?

With the extra power and RWD, traction does become an issue. The only thing I can recommend is wider rubber for the rear. Maybe someone else can help more. I have 265 now, and when they wear out, I will be going to 275.

For the JB3 to learn, I have been told it's 2-3 days.

More mileage

If you car just sits for a day versus driving 100+ miles.... you know?

I had 285 in my rears before and loved it

255 now and I'm not pleased

want them to wear out and get 275s (285 won't fit with 19s, only 18s; at least on a vert)

thanks a bunch for the help. I was originally thinking psi levels but on my morning drive today cornering an almost 90 degree turn I realized I need a wider wheel base. Too bad I just changed my tires about a month ago

As far as the break in, it's definitely the miles. I drive about 50-75 miles a day, and it's been about 3-4 days now that I've had the JB3 and intake and this morning it finally really felt smooth and the power delivery was continuous. So you are all right... few days, about 200 miles maybe... and I was running Map 3 the whole time.
