VS Motorsports SCCA Race at Road America
After long nights getting the car ready for the race this past weekend it showed a lot of potential for this season. Friday was a lot of rain and made it hard to get the practice in that was needed on a new build. The weather ended up being bad enough to move the qualifying to the following day.
Saturday morning we worked on getting the car up to weight since the T2 class that we race in requires M3's to have a minimum weight of 3500lbs with driver. We use lead bricks weighing 25lbs each to reach the weight requirement. After qualifying we noticed we were down on power due too traction control faults and intake cam sensor. Since no BMW dealerships were around the area and open we had to wait for Sunday's race to fix the cam sensor. Thanks to the help of friend and customer Faisal we were able to get the sensor for Sundays race. Sunday we got the sensor in just in time for the race and we were able to jump up 6 positions in just a 12 lap race! With more time we would have been able to pass a few more competitors. Now back at the shop we will be able to fine-tune the car on the results we got from the race and will be a top contender. The next upcoming race is at Road America for the June Sprints and we can not wait to get back on the track! Thanks for all the support from our friends and customers for making the race possible. Kris Von Sydow owner of VS Mortorsports & Driver, Al Valenzo our crew chief, Kenny Tomczyk our mechanic, and Dan Wereminski our help. Ryan Osiecki for supplying us with the weight ballast, Faisal Khan for bringing us the cam sensor, Matthew Kim for supplying the rear brake clips, and Nikolky Delov for taking pictures. Also thanks for those who came out to support Stefan & father, Marko, Sahsa & friend, Miles, Walter & friend, and Anthony. Lastly thank you to Von Sydows Moving Agent of Wheaton Van Lines for funding our weekend. Also Secpial thanks to apexraceparts to getting us our set of wheels on time. Both sets are the ARC-8 wheels and are perfect for tracking, Light weight and strong. |
