Intro/ JB3 Dyno Runs

Sup everyone,

I finally found time to post some charts of my recent dyno runs, hoping to get some feedback or suggestions on areas of improvement from you guys. It's been almost two months since i purchased my 335 (from an 08" G35) and i'm loving it so far. I decided to tackle the performance department first before anything else and started reading up on different ECU tunes. Juicebox was definitely my top choice one for the money, the positive feedback from current user, amazing gains and last Terry is always willing to lay a helping hand with any questions you may have (not sayin other tuners don't do the same). With that said i went ahead and purchased their DCI,JB3,BT package, few weeks after purchased ETS intercooler as well (Great product). My current goals as of now is to break 450whp / 11s 1/4 mile. During the course of this project i will be documenting and posting real life dynojet numbers as i go along. Here are my current dyno charts as of now, please let me know what you guys think.

Here is pic of my pervious car

Stock baseline w/DCI after 2 previous runs (heat soak)

Map 5 JB3,Intake,93 (best run)

Map 5 First pull IC,Intake,JB3,93. (nice TQ but no HP gain)

Map 5 Second pull IC,Intake,JB,93 (notice power loss)

Map 5 Third pull IC,Intake,JB3,93 (big power loss)

After this point i decided to crank up the map setting. Right away on the first pull we notice an increase in HP so decided to let the car cool off before making a second pass on the new map. I was only able to get two WOT passes on the new map due to dyno time.

Map 7 First pull IC,Intake,JB3,93 (1st WOT run)

Map 7 Second pull IC,Intake,JB3,93 (2nd WOT run)

That second map7 run looks allot better and cleaner.. nice power under the curve. What dyno shop did you use? How much if you don't mind me asking.. been looking to dyno my car lately...

Awesome! Get some DPs and Meth.. 400s easy

When you saw the significant loss of power its because of heatsoak...Need to get a FMIC to counter that!

Thanks! Twilight performance located in Ali Baba Opa Locka. Rates vary but i believe its about $35 for 2-3 pulls not bad considering most shops charge $65-80.

Were the runs with the FMIC on a different day from the JB3/DCI? If that's the case, heat soaking after 1 run seems odd.

Might want to also document the temperature, humidity, etc. during the runs. Might explain the difference in numbers.

Nice runs and setup... How is the fan setup there? and how much time in between each run?

Yes they were done a few weeks after the JB3/intake run. Can't seem to explain why just such as drastic power loss after each pull on Map 5. Maybe a mixture of boost drop, more air flow and richer A/F.

Just a regular electric fan by the radiator/intercooler nothing big. All the FMIC runs except for the second run on Map 7 were done back to back. Last runs we allowed about 30 mins cool down period.

Overall looks great. Remember boost is mapped off air intake temperature and you don't get true cooling on the dyno.

I'm confident that with a couple more WOT pulls so the new map could adapt and a bit more leaner A/F i'll get to 360hp but it's no big deal right now still have a road of performance mods still ahead.

Leaner/richer doesn't produce the same power on a DI car. Now adapting to octane is real.

Back to back runs for this car is why you were losing power, these car heat up fast even with a upgraded FMIC..

Try to get a better fan setup, carpet drying fans usualy work good towards the IC.. you want another fan towards the DCI and another one towards the radiator of the car. 3 main points to cool and make more power. You will actually be surprised what cooling periods between each run and having good fans will do for power, i have seen 20WHP gains from just getting extra fans at a dyno. If you really want to cool even more get another fan towads the oil cooler

Thanks for the input. We actually did use a carpet drying fan in front of the IC but that's about it. Heat soak is a tough task to manage here in the sunshine state.

If you look at the power >6000, you have a lot of power gained up top compared to your stock FMIC runs. This is the ETS FMIC, correct?

To join the 400whp club, time for some meth and downpipes. Throw in some race gas for good measure, crank the boost and you'll be loving your numbers!

Yes ETS FMIC, great product BWT!!

Looking into full exhaust and downpipe now but haven't decided what brand to choose from. Downpipes i'm thinking either Macht Schnell or AR Design but as for exhaust, i really really dont know. Since i plan on spraying nitrous, i'll rather leave meth out the picture for now but let's see what happens.

I def believe you. One Carpet drying fan for the IC and non for the DCI or the radiator at the least is def robbing you of power.

I give my car 20 min cool downs between each run, make sure my DCI or intake is getting DIRECT independent air to it, and the FMIC is getting a carpet fan as you were.

Next time on the dyno make sure to get a carpet fan to the DCI, FMIC as you did, and one either to the radiator if you can.

You really should log IATs on the ETS. There have been some pretty marginal results from the logs I have seen thus far.

If you do nitrous, you should want methanol as a precursor. They go hand in hand.
