lease turn in questions BMW Canada
I have to turn in my lease on 328i in October. Seeing how residuals have dropped, according to the dealer, about 10% since I leased my car, I'm wondering if BMW Canada will negotiate with me if I were to buy it out.
Anyone had any luck negotiating with them, or do they take a hard line on the buyout price? |

I've been working with my salesperson for almost three months now. At the outset, I was advised that should I wish to buy out my '07 335i, there may be a small incentive, i.e. $500 or so off the buyout price. The largest discount that the sales person had seen on a lease buyout was $800.
Last week, the Finance Rep from the dealer called to obtain the exact mileage on my car. I provided her with that information (car has extremely low mileage), and she called back about an hour later saying there would be no incentive since BMW would be keen to have such an immaculate vehicle back in their inventory again. Needless to say, I ended up buying out the car at a price about $5-6K less than retail price for similarly equipped CPOs/privately preowned cars. Hope that helps Asif |

hmm, my buyout seems high. Approximately $29,500 for 07 328i sedan with premium package only. So it looks like I shouldn't expect them to come down much more. If I were to CPO the car, what does that run normally, another 2k? I've seen equivalent vehicles recently at Downtown BMW with about the same mileage, CPO'd for between 31-33K. Seems like I would be paying about retail, except that I know the shape of my car, so obviously I would rather buy that than something else CPO that I have no idea about.

Here in Calgary, '07 E90 335i are retailing (CPO) for between $38-41k. Privately, sellers are asking between $36-38K. My buyout was $34K, and with a low mileage of less than 10,000km, it was a no-brainer for me.
Good luck! Asif |

If your car is indeed very low km and immaculate, your best bet is to see if you can sell it privately for more money than the buyout price plus the $500 admin fees.

That's what I was thinking too. Discount (Cash incentive) = Waiving admin fee.
All final pricing should have been documented in the leasing form. I have always tell this joke to my friends: Return the vehicle upon lease ends. Start locating the vehicle on the CPO list. May be the vehicle may cost less then the original buyout price after negotiation.
