Why is bloody farcebook suddenly trying to run 2 lots of scripts on my PC from this forum? Just since this weekend I think...
Is there no escape from it? |

I installed it on my mobile (HTC Desire) and suddenly every "friend" with a mobile number on FB was there in my address book along with a pic - YIKES!

Maybe because you have a Facebook link in your sig (and it doesn't display fully so I'm guessing it has issues which would also tie in)? Doesn't do anything on my PC..

That link's not in my sig!!!! I just noticed it has apppeared on the first post of every thread on the forum!!
That must be cause... I have a script blocker in firefox where I choose manually allow each script to run. At the moment there are 2 requests from facebook to run scripts vie e90 post. If you don't have a blocker, then facebook will already be doing its dirty deeds on your machine!!! |

Do what I did, DELETE all links for the F@&%ING program from everywhere you have them, it's an explotation site anyway's. There is nothing good or safe about it.

If you could name one i'd be interested to know?
It's only reason to be is to sell on every bit of info it can about its 400 million users to 3rd parties. That's why their default privacy settings are so lax, whatever you set to 'visible to all' they view as open info and that means they can package it up and sell it on as marketing and demographic data. And of course, charge businesses to join in as 'your special friends' and sell you more stuff.... Good idea that - wish I'd thought of it first Last edited by doughboy; 06-18-2010 at 03:23 AM.. |

i treat it as very similar to sitting in a room with all of your friends at once.. just chatting about shit.. especially good for keeping in touch with the people that you would never ever just ring up for a chat. some might say "they are not my friends" but it's really interesting see what people are up to now and where they are in life. personally i have reconnected with a lot of old school friends that still live in my home town and i would probably never have bothered otherwise. another great point is the ease of communication. personally i don't even have the email addresses of some of my closest friends.. with mobile phone numbers and the like changing frequently etc facebook stays constant in being able to communicate with these people. obviously it hinges on the fact that they are on it also, but it is basically like a world phonebook. so long as you put just enough info on there for people to be able to get in contact / know it's you. i don't see anything bad with bookface. however if you are stupid enough to post up all personal details and national insurance number etc etc to all and sundry then i guess you deserve whatever comes your way i will continue to use it as long as most of my friends do. |
