BMW Performance Brakes E90 330d

Gents,

Where is the best( cheapest ) to buy a BMW Performance Brakes kit for my 330d?

Was going to go down the drilled discs and braided hoses with uprated pads but the only ones I can find for the 330d are EBC red/yellow and previous experience of these on ST220 was not favourable.

Thanks in advance.

Steve.

Any takers on this? Or should I contact Anneka @Styner and see what price she has for them?

Please do, I would like to know what she says. I am interested in getting these fitted as well.

Maybe if there's enough interest we can arrange a group buy - there is always plenty of chatter about these on the forums so probably get a few people interested.

I bought mine brand new from a forum member, I think I was lucky being in the right place at the right time.

Apparently you can't get them for the 330d, see response below........

Hi Steve,

I have spoken with AG and they have advised that these brakes are not intended for your vehicle due to some technical differences between the 330d and 335d. Unfortunately I am not able to sell you these brakes. For reference, the brake set when released for your vehicle may be somewhere in the region of £1400. I do hope that these come available soon and am sorry that I couldn't be more helpful on this particular occassion.

Kind Regards,
Anneka

I have looked on ETK and can confirm they're not meant for the 330d according to the system. However they clearly do fit the 330d as Dr Dave has fitted to his. These also fit most 1 and 3 series.

The cheapest place to buy them from is Anneka (it's cheaper than buying from the other chap), but I guess she isn't allowed as a matter of policy to knowingly sell you these for a vehicle not listed against the kit in ETK. Ofcourse if you bought the kit without her knowing what you're putting them on ;-)

Will there be any issue with warranty from BMW point of view installing BMW performance brakes when they are not design for the 330d?

I just don't want to get them and found out that I will be voiding my warranty.

Wow, that is a whole lot cheaper than buying from BMW.

I am really temped but if these are not inteneded for the 330d or 325d in my case then there is still an open question over warrenty.

Any thoughts on this?

Just out of curiosity why would you want to throw over a grand on a set of performance brakes for a 330d.
I can understand doing this on a tweaked 335 or an M3 but not on a 330d.
Ok they look nice but couldn't justify it myself.

Ive been considering them for my e93 320d, you'd be surprised how much better the bite and feel is from an up rated system irrespective of the cars power. A 320d will still do pretty high speeds quite easily, you'd definitely feel the difference on a nice b road
There just over £800 from the link above which I think is reasonable value.

Having had an off the record conversation with someone at the dealership I have had agreement that the standard of disk and pad combination on the e9x (can't speak for the other series of cars but I am sure it follows the same path) does mean that spirited driving can overwhelm the brakes quite quickly.
In fact the chap I spoke to said a lot of customers upgrade the disks to drilled with standard BMW pads.

This apparently makes a big enough difference to make it worthwhile doing and not invalidating the warranty.

I am not suggesting for a second that this is the best approach. If my car was not under warranty it would get a set of Pagid disk with Ferodo DS2500.

I would still like to unstained why BMW won't support the installation of their performance brake kit on the e90 330d? The website says this is ok!!

Very odd.

Isn't a question of whether you've got an LCI 330d or an earlier car. Believe that the PBK is available for the earlier 330d's although not the later PCI versions?

I have them fitted to the front of my 335D (Fitted by an Indy)

My BMW dealer has changed the pads and brake fluid as part of a service.

Last week the same dealer replaced a front pad sensor under warranty.

Hope that helps.

How have you found the performance brakes on the 335d? I certainly think it makes more sense up rating the brakes before a remap, even if not contemplating a power hike. The other mod I would put at the top of the list is the Quaiffe LSD. It's funny that stopping more quickly will make you go faster, though certainly this is most true on the track. They do look the dogs dangles though!

They're designed for the 335d, that's not the issue. The reply from Anneka was that they're not for the 330d.

I don't know about 'quite quickly', but yes, if they were subjected to track work, or some serious use for a while, they would start to fade.

Really? Who exactly was this person at the dealership? I'm guessing it wasn't one of the mechanics?

So drilling discs and altering their structural integrity apparently won't affect a warranty, but replacing them with OE equivalent parts will?

I think he was referring to fitting just the BMW performance discs which are drilled and an official BMW part, thus retaining the warranty

BMW BBK isn't designed for the 335d infact the BBK discs are smaller than 335d ones.......but they look great compared to the standard 335 calipers.
