bladeless fan

would you pay a substantial premium for this fan that blows the SAME amount of air as a bladed fan?

"You're not belching HFCs into the environment"

$299.99 MSRP

No... I had high hopes, but in the end I don't think they are worth it.

I have a couple of his vacuums... and I love the air-blades in bathrooms for hand drying, but other than aesthetics, that fan isn't worth it.

The whole design philosophy behind it is that since it doesn't have "blades" you don't get that "annoying buffeting" from a regular fan? Really? First of all I'll deal with buffeting (that I can't feel BTW) on my $100 Vornado fan which is as far as I can tell, much more powerfully and a lot less loud. I've haven't ever felt fan buffeting on anything less than 4-5' in diameter either. Also, by the time you turn one of the Dyson fans up to a speed where air actually comes out of it at a decent level it's rediculously loud IMO.

i just bought one of these http://www.amazon.com/Miallegro-1760.../dp/B0028MILF4

so freaking sweet, quiet, blows cold and relaxing at night

The loudness ruins it for me. I would want one if it was very quiet.

Dyson is my hero!

I used the hand dryer at the Dodgers Game and it's pretty awesome.

People are so easily convinced to buy into bullshit like this. Someone tell me in case I missed Mr. Dyson's outline, what is wrong with bladed fans? Dangerous and you have to clean them? What a joke.

As 'my92' mentioned, you want to impress me Dyson? Build a bladeless turbo mother fucker!

Buy one of those Vornado fans, $30 or something - design wise, Dyson certainly has some great looking, functioning, reliable (and expensive) products.

I believe that Dyson himself "borrowed" (aka stole) a lot of the technology for his vacuum's, fans, etc. from an old expired Patent that happened to expire just when he was starting his company.

I've tried the fan-less hand dryer at certain restaurants, bars, etc. Pretty cool.

I hear they make amazing vacuums though, but since I don't vacuum I could care less.

Not worth it for $300. They also need to make a better stand. Doesn't look stable at all.

I was in best buy and stared at this thing for like 5 minutes. Then I noticed that it cost like 300 bucks and decided that I'd rather buy a 50 dollar fan and a prostitute. The end.
