Prof HiFi as standard sept 2010?

Hi guys was reading the updates on sept 2010 production 3 series and read this.....

1 and 3 Series

The HiFi Sound System (676) that was previously standard prior to September 2009 production will
again be standard for all 1 and 3 Series models produced as of September 2010. Compared to today’s
basic stereo system, the HiFi Sound System adds the 180 watt multi channel amplifier with equalizing,
along with an additional 2 tweeters in the front doors. With the addition of the tweeters the total speaker
count is now 8, including the 2 midrange speakers in the front doors, 2 central bass speakers under the
front seats, and the two midrange speakers in the rear.

Is this better than the alpine upgrade. I guess they are doing away with the prof HIFI upgrade as i think this was it and only offering the HK and maybe the digital one?

That's the American spec. They originally had Logic 7 as standard on their cars but in their round of specification cuts it got reduced to BMW Business (formerly known as BMW HiFi) The BMW HiFi (Business) itself got reduced in spec with the deletion of the rear tweeters (this applied in the U.S. and U.K.)

No specs have been announced for the new model year (from September) in Britain so we don't know - but don't expect the upgrade from our pathetic basic sound system to be included as a standard item.

There's no way they'll upgrade the standard sound system - the upgrades are worth far too much to them, for new buyers and retro-fitters.

Correct. The US guys get lots of extra stuff as standard.

But we get better suspension
