GIAC Stage 1 Tune and 30K Service

I have a BT Tool on order to scan and clear before bringing the car in for service. I will, of course, ask that my car's software not be updated stating that I've heard that noticeable lag has occurred when 335i's have been updated. But should I go through an added safety measure and have the car flashed back to the stock program before bringing it in?

tuner codes are erased in the flash so they will never pop up. I would flash it stock for service or use the mapswitcher to change it to stock.
i have heard that BMW now always update the software with the latest one even if you tell them not to do so.

BMW tells the dealers to look for tunes when customers ask them not to update the software. AFAIK they have to upload your file to catch you - not really sure how often they do that.

telling them NOT to update the software is an indicator that you are knowledgeable on these cars and more times than not, probably tuned, I would just let them flash over your flash or get it flashed to stock. I had the GIAC tune and had this same issue, except my car needed to go to the dealer for repairs and broken down car was 50 miles from my nearest GIAC dealer, needless to say it was a bit inconvenient.

They will flash it anyway, there is a new service campaign and every car get's software accounding to my SA this week - it pops up as a warranty campaign as soon as they put in your vin, so they are most likely going to flash it either way!

I just brought my car in for the 30K service and left the JB2 in. They ran a scope etc and never found anything. They also did not update the software. It's a 2007 with the original software.

I would flash it back to stock or if you want to take a chance, let them just flash over the GIAC. GIAC will be able to upload another flash if the software version BMW gives you is something they are familiar with. They do charge you for that but it isn't much.
