WOT Pull Ok, Cruising around 2500 and stumbling on acceleration

Anyone else have this problem? I'm wondering if I just need to clear the adaption values. I drive 40 miles a day on the freeway in 6th gear at 2200-2500rpm.

Scenarios

1.) If I do a WOT pull no hesitation or misfires.

2.) If i'm cruising around 2500rpm in 4th, 5th or 6th and punch the throttle I get a misfire lean feeling and around 3000rpm it's gone.

Does anyone else have this problem? I'm wondering if it's my daily driving of 40 miles a day at 2500rpms in 6th is screwing up the adaption tables.

The car is bone stock.

I think it's time to buy a BT tool, unless I can reset the values by pulling the battery cables.

is it a lean misfire "feeling" or a real misfire? Do you get codes? SES lights flash? halfengine light?

No codes, No SES light flashing. I had a problem similar before and had the turbochargers replaced less then 500 miles ago. I have a feeling it's the adaption tables.

This is EXACTLY why my car is in the shop. I finally got an SES light a couple of weeks ago. Car is still in the shop. So far they've done a carbon cleaning, replaced the LPFP and checked the injectors and still getting a light. PUMA case has been submitted again and the head has to come off.

Mine is 100% stock with ~74K miles.

I'll keep you updated as to what's going on with my car. Let me know what happens with yours.

Thank God for my extended warranty!

I had a problem similar to this prior to turbo replacement, but i'm wondering if when they replaced the turbocharger they flashed the adaption table and reset the values. Then once the car started learning again the problem came back.

I have a similiar problem with my car. I brought it to the dealer and they checked for codes, but nothing came up. It seems like this problem only happens to me during the first few minutes of driving but goes away once the car is warmed up. Its also inconsistent, so some days I feel it and other days I don't...

I get a similar feeling, feels like im driving on a rough road except its like the power is fluttering as I accelerate. I chalked it up to hot weather/bad gas/fuel pump dying but I'm not sure.

At least im not the only one.

That's the exact feeling, maybe I can't do anything about it, but tune it out. I'm going to have the dealer just reset the adaption table today and see if it solves the problem.

It's a lean feeling. It's really bad/noticeable when the car is cold. The worst part for me is I cruise 70mph in 6th on the way home right at 2400rpm so any acceleration has a hesitation and misfire/lean feeling.

The car is bone stock!

I tried gas from 3 different stations. Chevron, 76 and the dreaded Arco. Also tried the chevron fuel cleaner (same as bmw) - No love.

Yesterday was the worst though. I started the car up to leave from work and it would barely hold an idle. I drove about 5 blocks before pulling over. Constant studder/hesitation from 1.5k to 4k, turned the car off and started her back up and she ran like normal with the hesitation around 2.5k. The car did throw a CEL, so we will see what the dealer says today.

I asked the dealer for a 135 or 335 loaner car, they said with all the problems, we won't have them for a loaner car. So now i got a 128i rental car. It's a tad different then the 335i

There is a new software update to fix the exact issue i'm having is what the dealer said. They flashed the car and said it runs perfect, they just want to wait tell Monday to check for a cold start issue. Once i get the invoice I will post up the info.

Swapped injectors and Plugs, the car runs perfect at idle now (no studder) and the mis fire at 2500rpm is gone. Dealer also has a revised flash for misfires from the previous flash.

thanks,

Michael

Michael is your 335 a 2007? It seems the majority of issues are on the older build 335i's. I know my car had it's fair share of gremlins, including VANOS issues and all sorts of mis-fires.

Yup it's an 07 built in 06. The car now has the latest revision turbochargers, injectors, HPFP and seems to be running great.
