Brand new dings / scratches on a brand new 2011 e92 335xi
Not impressed!! Culprit: Shopping cart left by lazy and ignorant people who have no respect for other people's cars roaming freely in a parking lot. |

It steams me when I see stuff like this happening to nice cars like yours. Parking your car at a shopping mall or at a big box store is like "russian roulette". There seems to be more accidental car vandalism from people rushing around being more careless...opening their car doors with a bang, backing up without looking, going in the wrong direction, parking in spots designed for a Mini and, of course, the abandoned shopping cart "self parking" onto your door..etc..No wonder insurance rates have skyrocketted...

Good luck with the repair. That really sucks. A wandering shopping cart took out the tail light on the Saab 900 I owned before my 3 series.

I feel your pain. I litterally had a cart chase my car on a windy day. And I was parked all by myself at the far end of the lot.

I hear ya ... I do park away from the rest of the world. Just luck of the draw I guess! There was actually another 335i 2 spots away ... haha
Thanks everyone for the advice. I called Thilan @ Dent Xpress based on other posts here and will visit him next Saturday. Hopefully it can be easily fixed, but it looks like the paint is scratched at the bottom of both dents. So we will see - will keep you guys posted! I guess I'm never going to Wal-Mart again? Ironically, I went there to buy some car wash BMW should have a new optional extra to have cameras with memory installed on different angles of your car that are activated when parked, so that the owners can sue the asses out of all the people who do hit-and-runs. Now THAT would be innovation! |

Happened to me in the 5 minutes it took to go in an get my son from daycare.
T at dent express fixed it and what sucked is that with a white car you can hardly see damage in a photo, so i had no recourse after it was fixed. All i know is that what i thought would be un-repairable is now invisible so your in good hands. |

I know how you feel.... I parked all the way on the other end at the Ikea in Vaughan, and I saw a shopping cart leaning against my car when I came out. Ruined my whole week... worst thing is that the paint was chipped, so even with painless dent removal, I'll still have the chip there....

Don't get me started. I seen this tub of lard this saturday push a cart into the spot next to her even though the cart park (or what ever you call that thing all the carts sit in) was like 5 steps away from her. People are so damn lazy these days.

I'm gonna bite my tonge on this one...to the OP, I agree with you completely. There are ares in Toronto that are well known for this ignorance. But to keep my self from getting in trouble, I'm gonna keep my mouth shut.

Same here, I also try to park somewhere on the upsloping part of the parking lot so that shopping carts can't roll downwards towards my car if possible.

Anyway, +1 on the parking grade. Finding the best spot is like a science challenge everywhere you go. While every shlub is trying to park close to the entrance, you're hunting for the spot with the lowest risk profile. My favourite are end-spots where nobody can park on one side of you, or next to one of those super wide handicap spots, which are either empty, or filled by able-bodied people in standard cars. It doesn't always work, this weekend I have the perfect spot at a hotel for the night, leaving at least 1.5 meters from the line for the next spot. While I'm standing there, a Cavalier pulls in, coming 1m OVER HIS LINE to get too close to my car, and his fat GF can't even get out. I made it completely obvious as I stop, turn around, get back into my car and re-park again, another 1m further from him. He just looked at me with no hint of comprehension. A simple truth in life is that idiots are everywhere, and will never stop surprising you if you assume you're safe. *sigh*

I hate to get started on people's capacity to take care of things but today while leaving a store, I witnessed a person who had 3 spaces to parallel park a nice new Lexus ES sedan give the car "curb rash". I was cringing listening to scrapping wheels and tires for 15 to 20 feet of curb. Ouch! When this person got out of the car, it was like nothing had happened...
