S2000 Owners (Past and Present) Check in!

I see quite a bit of S2000 people on here (Derrick running around, my friend Specialque, and others)

What's the sudden fascination with these cars (namely the 335)?

and of course...Welcome!

I have an 06 Pearl Yellow S2000 in addition to the 355. A couple of other cars as well, as you can see.

Great little roadster, tons of fun (but currently snowbound where I live).

I had an '02 Berlina black on black.

Loved that car more than anything else. Tracked it at Fall Colors two years ago, and still haven't come close to my AutoX times in my E90.

Had to sell it when my kid turned 16 and me having just a three-month-a-year toy was too much.

I must say, for all the goodness in my E90, nothing will replace that S2000.

Luke (specialque) let me run his S2K around the track (BeaveRun) in PA, and although his car was completely stock, it was just a joy to drive around the track. Made my rather heavily modified E46 330Ci (PSS9s, a slew of NA engine mods etc) feel like a fat pig.

My cousin just picked up an 06 s2k, and that thing is so fun to drive. I was actually considering one but opted for the e90 due to its practibility.

That car is bulletproof...some minor TSBs...just change the fluids and drive the ever-living piss out of it smiling the whole time.

Vortech supercharged '03 S2000 owner checking in. Black on black. Nothing but the dark side for me. It is for sale if anyone is in the market for a screaming fast car. Sleeped P-Car killer.

The reason for purchase of the 335i coupe is that I need a daily driver with a backseat. I just sold my truck and I don't want to drive the s2k every day. I test drove the 335i and fell in love.

That being said... nothing can replace the experience of a boosted S2K. I wish like hell I could keep it.

OK, I am really interested in an S2000 also. Actually, it was between a S2000 and the 325i i ended up getting. After reading this thread i am second guessing myself. I have no real need for a 4 door. But thats not my question.....

Anyone know if a pre 2004 s2k is the way to go or are the 04+ models better. i like the newer refresh but am wondering if i should save some $ and get the pre 2004 model. 9000 redline vs. 8000 and +.2 liters???

anyone drive both or own both.....?

Ya the MY 04+ have the 2.2, which redlines at 8200. The MY 00-03 redline at 9000. The 2.2 liter produces a tad more torque, same HP but the lower redline means the MY00-03 is just as fast. It's funny because there is a huge debate among S2000 owners about which car is faster but the numbers put the cars put down identical numbers on the track.

It all comes down to preference. I bought my '03 new so I didn't have the choice of whether or not to get the 2.2. I like the fact that I have 9000 rpms to play with and I like the look of the 00-03.

Ive driven both, and personally prefer the 2004 model. The extra torque makes its a little more daily-driveable.

Love my 04

I only hope I love the 335 when finances allow as much as the S2000. For me, the only part I don't like is how small the car is and its ride is a bit harsh for everyday....and compared to my G, it could use more torque. Awesome stick shift, fantastic clutch, extremely responsive handling, and fun motor (at high end).

This is absolutely true. I've driven a lot of cool cars...but the S2000 is among the most fun I've ever driven.

To me, the fact that the car is now in its seventh year of production essentially unchanged (except for the mega-sin of the 2.2L engine) makes it MORE desirable to me. Imagine seven years of Honda production, each year refining an already bullet-proof design just a little further.

I sold my '02 with 16K snow-free miles and months of Zaino-elbow grease for $20K in Sept. '05 here in Boston. There are few cars on the road with that level of performance and sophistication at that price level.
