No Service?
Expecting my e92 in about (1 1/2 weeks), don't know what thread you were originally on talking about dealership service. Did you have a problem with some of the services that a T.O. dealership is offering compaired to some of the dealers in the states?
I think I am curious because the Hamilton dealership seems very nice, but I have nothing to compare it with. If you have time, give me a few ideas on things that we should all look out for. |

He's refering to the BMW Assist Concierge service which is accessed through the built-in cell phone in cars with BlueTooth/Assist, not dealer services. You pay a bit extra for accessing Concierge service in the US and can be useful. In essence, you ask the operator on the end of the line for advice and he/she can provide information on restaurants, etc. and even make reservations for you based on your location. I think, give or take the level of politeness, discounts, etc., most dealers offer similar types of "service" no matter where you go.

I should have been more clear in my question about cost. I understand that the service is not available in Canada however, I have a few friends in Georgia who have visited this site to gather information (possibly getting a 3-series). So far they have compiled a lot of info regarding purchase cost & additional services. If anyone has an idea about how much this service is please respond. Is this part of the Bluetooth/ Driver Assistance package or is there an additional charge (like an upgraded package).

We do not have BMW Concierge in Canada. We Have BMW Assist which includes a bunch of services including Destination Download. Destination Download is where you already know the name of a destination. BMW Assist will: 1) look up the name of the destination and beam back the exact address and/or phone number to your phone or your iDrive. You get the first year for free. Each additional year is $190 CDN. In the US, you can also get BMW Concierge in addition to BMW Assist. BMW Concierge will do more than Destination Download. They can do more concierge services like: 1) find and book a hotel/motel/restaurant 2) assist in obtaining tickets for an event 3) recommend places 4) check arrival/departure of flights 5) check traffic 6) check weather BMW Concierge is not available in Canada. I believe in the US it costs $199 USD for BMW Assist and additional $199 USD for BMW Concierge. They apparently run promotions in the US and I have read of some forum members managing to scoop a four year renewal at a cut rate. |

I think this is a bit overrated. Tried it out on my Garmin Nuvi. You can get FM real time traffic info here in Canada on the Garmin. Sometimes...isn't "real-time". Map says there is a 40 minute delay...but when I get there it no longer is.
Far better/accurate to tune in for 5 minutes on the traffic report on the radio yourself. |

Isnt real time traffic available when you have the navigation package? The company that BMW gets there traffic info from has live traffic from Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto available...
What about BMW Search. Is that available in Canada? |

I have the Concierge service, I use it weekly to confirm flight times and find places to eat. I did not pay any extra fees either...

Can you also let me know if you have the BMW Search option?
It let's you search google maps, and select locations, from right within your BMW Also what about Traffic on your navigation? Does it show the traffic for some Toronto streets? Also just out of curiosity from which BMW dealer is your BMW from. Last edited by nicohockey9; 04-21-2009 at 06:29 PM.. |

Thank you for the reply. So it seems like concierge is available on new models
Also found out that now in Canada we have BMW Teleservice As for traffic I see this Navigation System listed under the X6: http://durham.bmw.ca/en/pub/products/accessories.aspx Last sentence says it includes traffic on the navigation system. Can anyone confirm it works if you have the "Professional Navigation System"? |
