OMG Long Cranks!!

Forget about the stupid theory about ethanol wrecking our HPFP's. Since new, I have only filled my car up with Shell Gold which has no ethanol content here in Canada. For the past week, the car is doing long cranks before startup. Once it starts, I shut if off and start it up again. This time, it starts right away so I don't know if this is truely a HPFP issue. If a HPFP is starting to go, should it crank longer every time?

First car (2007) with HPFP failure had long cranks then run fine. Second one (2010) would crank quickly then immediately run like crap.

i have yet to have a hpfp replacement (lucky i know), but my 07 with 46k miles is starting to do longer cranks about 40-50% of the time... So does this mean it is definitely the hpfp? I was thinking injectors were the cause. My car is going to the dealer on Saturday for WG rattle (second time), so I am in the same position as OP. What if they can't replicate the longer crank?

I've had a few long cranks on my 2010 135i... but then they just magically go away for months... odd.

If I take it in they will probably just update my software.

You hear the WG rattle at idle right?

When they scan the car it should show fuel related faults that will tell them there's a problem.
