Grassroots motorsports did a comparison, catless AE made i think ~10whp peak gains on their car

Having aftemarket exhaust the hp gain is marginal if that and IMO all exhaust made for the N54 will yield you the exact same hp and anyone else telling you theirs yields more is marketing at it best! AFE intake yields an amazing 24 hp!!! lol

I have the ams, however i have yet to dyno just after i put it on, when i do thought the results will be isolated as this is the only mod i have done after my last dyno.
I like the fact that it is a single 3" in and is also very light. The car sounds pretty angry when you get on it but depending on throttle inputs can be as quiet or near too as stock. There is slight drone at between 1900-2200 but really is not bad at all and you can control that by using ds and keeping the revs above or below. |

You are correct. Gains from just about any cat-back system are minimal. On our AMS BMW 335i, we saw around a 10hp increase from bolting up the cat-back. Quality and weight savings on the other hand are substantial. We managed to knock off 40lbs of weight over the factory cat-back and incorporated v-band connections for a solid seal and easy adjustment. Adding downpipes to the equation is a whole different story. Typically, a quality turbo back exhaust will yield you around 30whp gains. We ran CPE downpipes and our AMS cat-back on our car and saw about a 30whp gain on the dyno.
