I Tested out Whether 50 Meth/50 Water Will Burn

I wasn't out to prove either way if it would burn or not.
I just really wanted to know and see the dangers behind it.

So, I filmed the process and I'd like to hear your thoughts.
I would really like your technical iunputs please.
This is what I think...

- It will burn if it is puddled or in large quantities because the meth doesn't have a chance to evaporate in large quantities.
- It will not burn if it is spraying/misting since it evaporates almost instantly unless you spray it directly on a large flame.

What I didn't test out is heating up a piece of metal to 500 + degrees and spray the 50/50 mixture on it, but I'm thinking that the heat will just make the meth evaporate.

If you trust me with the actual 50/50 mixture and you just wanted to see it burn or not burn then you can just skip to the 5 minute mark.

Looks like it burns, but pretty slowly. Otherwise, good test. What about testing other mixtures? 60/40, etc.

Wow pretty cool Vid. It burns like rubbing alcohol would if you pooled it on a surface.

So basically, everyone should start running 60/40 mixture or higher in order for it to burn properly and right away correct ? Of course this is just an assumption, but 50/50 definitely doesn't burn as much as i expected, actually it barely burns at all.

Thanks for the test Mr.5 !

Wow nice. I should be running a 70/30 or 80/20 mix soon.

LOL, I think Mr.5 is doing this from a "safety" POV vs. "performance". We all know that high meth/water ratios are very flammable, probably he's trying minimize this and still get performance?

Appreciate all your testing and comments.
When do you have time for family and work??? Would like the time warping device you have at your disposal, cause I don't get to do all the fun stuff you do...

Good job videoing it Mr.5. I told you this test had been done plenty of times and it does burn. I am glad others realize this is a fact now.

5,

To answer your original questions, your understanding of what burns is backward, it's not the liquid methanol that burns, it's the vapor. And the methanol vapor needs to mix with enough oxygen to reach the lower flamable level.

That's why it burns when in a large puddle, methanol evaporates and then mixes with enough air (oxygen) to sustain the exothermic oxidation reaction (flame).
