Black dakota leather (in e92) question...

hi all, just wondered what those of you with black dakota leather do to keep it looking good. I have had my car for a little over a year now (from new) and so far havent done anything to it, no conditioning or treatment etc as i wouldnt know where to begin and so far still looks good, i occasionally wipe down with a soft clean cloth and water if any marks appear and that seems to do the trick, however im now wondering if i should be doing more, ie when regularly cleaning the whole car and/or anything else i should do after longer intervals,

any advice greatly appreciated, cheers guys.

Best way is to unbolt them and take them out for a good scrub. Head rests and Arm rest can go in the dish washer.

You're probably doing all you need if it's still looking good but Gliptone leather conditioner is the dogs and restores the new smell too.

I've settled for using the BMW leather care, as I've tried Gliptone and can't abide the smell. My nose reads it as someone's had an accident and the car has been 'partly' cleaned out.

The BMW kit leaves a neutral scent as I smell it.

I had lemon dakota leather for 3 years, and even with 2 kids, the packs of leather wipes did the job.

Strange that it works on my lemon dakota leather. Did on my 540i as well.

Plus if there are any leather issues and I'm using a BMW product, gives less wiggle room in the event of a claim.

+1 Gliptone and the pump dispense cleaner too.
Great on the sofa in the front room.

Used the Autoglym leather conditioner too, if you like a less noticable smell it works well, but does add a 'sheen'.

Had my car over 2 years and seats look new.

Everyone comments that my car smells of new leather.

Gliptone is the best - HiglandPete says he can't abide the smell and I agree it smells odd on initial application but that soon goes away and the natural leather smell is enhanced. It also gives a matt finish.

Incidentally, i have an almost full bottle of Gliptone Leather Cleaner and a bottle of Gliptone Leather Conditioner but I no longer have a car with leather seats. If anyone wants them you're welcome to them FOC.

(but you'll have to collect, don't be taking the piss now )
