Any of you guys turned down for hpfp repair after 50k due to lpfp pressure sensor?

i was just at the dealer and been told that the code i got (10739/29F3 - Fuel pressure sensor, electrical) is link to lpfp pressure sensor, not hpfp and IT WON'T BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE I'M OUT OF 4YR/50K MILES WARRANTY PERIOD.

$160 parts + 3 hours of labour comes out to $600 to my tab at the dealer... and they also told me BMWNA WILL NOT ACCEPT HPFP CALIM UNLESS I FIX LPFP PRESSURE SENSOR FIRST TO EVEN REPORT IT

so now i'm forced to fix this lpfp pressure sensor and if i still do get hpfp code or long crank symptom after program update and lpfp pressure sensor fix, then i can calim and BMWNA MAY GRANT THE CASE FOR IT... sounds like A LOT OF BS to me...

Just trying to see if anyone else got turned down for hpfp repair after 50k warranty period like me...

Its an easy fix....need to take out the charge pipe, and manifold to get to that low pressure sensor...the part is like 50 bucks or so if I remember but not 160, but then again you need to replace the intake manifold gaskets also...3 hours labor is stretching it big time...I would say about 1 and half and thats milking it.

according to my local dealership invoice for the part needed, it's about $160 for lpfp pressure sensor (plus 3 hr labour and tax came out to like $590 or something)... i'm talking to couple of independent bmw shop to look into this because $600 is just rediculous...

I been having this code like forever and I bought the sensor awhile back meaning to change it out...My car runs perfect with no problems so I haven't tackled it yet....The part cost me somewhere I think around 50-60 bucks...I dont know what the gasket for the intake manifold cost so i cant comment on that....To access the sensor the charge pipe needs to be removed, stock airbox if you still have it, and intake manifold...The sensor is right below the middle of the manifold and thats why its a PITA to get to...I think dealership charging 600 sounds about right....You could probably get an outside mechanic to do it for much less though because BMW hourly rate is crazy

just picked up my car at local independent BMW shop and i got an explanation for higher cost in part. yes you are right about the sensor itself being $50~$60. but in my case, i had to change out the fuel line along with the low pressure sensor is attatched to because BMW had made a change during 2008 sometime i guess. so those who have 2006~2008 build vehicle with lpfp low pressure sensor failure, you guys might have to spend extra $100 in part for the newer design fuel line. sensor itself is still the same and the mechanic (it's same guy who worked on my car at BMW seattle ) told me that they still get people reporting lpfp low pressure sensor failure with newer design fuel line but in that case, they only change out the sensor itself which is your case and that will be $50~$60 in part + labour...

with aftermarket intake and charge pipe, labour time was merely hour and a half which was half the time SA suggested at the dealership. total came out $350ish and i tipped the mechanic well so i spent about $380ish... but overall still way cheaper than $600 quote i got from the stealership. i'm just pissed off for the fact that BMW is thinking lpfp low pressure sensor is seperate issue than hpfp issue. i mean it's directly connected to hpfp and there are plenty people reporting this problem along with hpfp failure. i guess that's what i have to pay for being out of 50k warranty period. it would've been certainly covered under warranty if i had one, mech said...

now i'm hoping to have hpfp code so that i can finally be done with hpfp issue... although it looks like car pulls hard all the way up to red line now...

The low pressure sensor "is" a seperate issue (even though it's common) along with the high pressure sensor, an injector, the pump in the tank etc. Nothing but the HPFP is covered. The dealer is going charge you the book time no matter how easy you make the install for them. Flat rate is flat rate and it's how all dealers operate.
