Turn off USB interface

Hi

Does anyone know how to deactiviate the USB interface when the car is switched off?

It appears my USB stick is still on even when the car is switched off completely, I am concerned that it might drains the battery.

Any help is appreciated.

I have the same problem with my iPod, I have it just plugged in Via the Usb port in the center console and it just stays on... my fix was to just unplug the iPod or USB stick when I'm leaving the car overnight.

Not 100% sure but I think it does switch off after a period of time. I was sitting in my car one day cleaning it with the ignition off and I noticed after a while the screen went blank. I presume it was the car shutting the power off.

Guys, just to put your minds at ease, the battery in an iPod or other USB device is about .01% of the capacity of a car battery, don't worry about it!

I noticed this as well many times (usb drive has a red light lit when it's powered up) but i always wondered if it goes out after 16 minutes or so at the same time the little orange indicator on the automatic equipped cars goes out (the little orange gear selector light that stays on after you lock the car)

I'll leave my console door open tonight with the usb drive visible and check on it tomorrow morning before i unlock to see if it's turned off.

Does anyone know if the glovebox light turns off eventually - I'd like to leave mine open to show there is nothing in the car worth nicking but I've not yet had the patience to sit and wait until (or if) the light goes out.....

Yes it does go out .... I left it open a few weeks ago unintentialtty and saw it open through the window and the light was off. About half hour had passed when I noticed it so dont know how long before it shut off

found a solution, apparently if you hold down the start button when you turn it off for about 1.5 seconds, it will jump right to the "shut down" mode with the radio, USB interface, glovebox light off etc. This is the same as if you push the button two times in a row.

I tried this out but forgot to post results.

Left the USB stick visable in the car and when i returned later on in the day (4-5 hours) the light was off on the usb stick which indicates that there is not powered

I guess it turns it off at that ~16 minute mark where the little orange indicator on the automatic transmission cars goes out
