Well that wouldn't work to well on a turbo car but on NA I've always wondered what would happen if someone hooked up some sort of electric fan/blower to the intake. Can't do much b/c you dont see too many cars that have it.

Kidding aside, I always wondered about this too. Why wouldn't it work? I'm guessing that an electric fan can't make anywhere near the airflow needed to make a difference like a real super charger could. Does anyone know the real answer, i.e. why can't you hook up a 200mph electric fan to your air intake to make more power?

I believe it will not work because the engine will only pull in x amount of air, unless there is either a turbo/supercharge to compress the air...thus its about as effective as a free flowing air intake..maybe a little more

also..unless u got a serious blower, i doubt that this little fan will move air quicker than the engine will suck it...try "blowing" into a vacuum cleaner hose..see where that gets you lol

2. to achieve a power increase based on air flow, that flow would have to be compressed and routed with little or no disturbance. fans are designed to move air, maybe instead of trying to force air into the intake, strap that baby on the back of the car and hope for the best -- swamp-runner sytle |

Ram air alone provides forced induction to an extent, some motorcycles and cars are designed with ram air inlets and show gains. But that is of course at higher speeds, and if there is a crosswind, the gain is not much.
This fan would need to turn at about 15-20K RPMs upwards of a turbocharger, to provide enough ram/compressed air to get any benefits and provide condensed air to be of any value. It probably just spins from the air moving into the car and the motor really doesn't work to spin it once at higher speeds. And at a stop, well, back to my point about how fast it needs to turn.
