where is VK Motorworks Oil Cooler for 335i
Does anyone know if VK Motorwerks is still selling parts. There web page is active but the phone and email are no longer valid. I am looking for an oil cooler alternative to the Dinan one and theirs looked viable.
Thanks David |

I wouldn't buy VK OC if I had to buy again. Go for ar design.

This problem caused by the fact that in order to mount the core that VK Motorwerks uses, such core has to be cut on the edges (otherwise it doesn't fit in the mounting position). That cutting destabilizes the core because the seams of it aren't perfect any more and, if you put some stress on them (i.e. spirited driving, hot oil temps, expanding the core), are prone to fracturing which causes oil leaking out. You can remedy that by using another core such as Setrab which does not need to be cut and will therefore not fracture (as marcel_b has done), or you can go with the AR design oil cooler in the first place and not have these problems. I am installing the 335is airvent and ducts for the same reason. A guy I know already did this and has very good results even with the standard oilcooler. (drop of 15 degrees Celcius in oil temps) Something to consider.... |
