Methanol going bad?
I have my meth pretty well sealed in a 5 gallon gas container, but I am noticing the timing dropping off and autotune not liking it as much. As evidenced by one of my previous posts, I was autotuned to 15.7psi boost 29IC without meth, and with meth, it is autotuned to 14.9psi 45IC. I have a fresh container of Sunoco Methanol that I can run pure just to put the "bad meth" theory to rest, but wanted to know if anyone ran into a similar situation.

I wish I had a 5 gallon tank for the track.
Meth does go bad over time.

lol no, i use a 3 quart tank in the car, a 5 gallon gas canister for my "mix". The stuff in my car has been sitting for over a month unused though. I'm gonna go empty this stuff out and run pure Sunoco Methanol and see how it does.

If any air can get into the meth storage tank it will change it's properties over time. I believe it takes on more water.
On VP Racing Fuel's site I remember them mentioning for their fuels, in general, to use up any in a plastic storage container in about 2-4 weeks: How long will VP fuels last in one of your plastic fuel containers? I would personally use it within 2 to 4 weeks. A plastic container is designed for fuel transfer, not storage. If you are going racing for a week or weekend, it's OK to put your fuel in the plastic containers. I just recommend that when you get to your shop you put the fuel back in the drum and seal it. This will keep it fresh. Plastic is porous. Even though the liquid fuel doesn't leak out, the light ends of the fuel can evaporate out of the plastic. Plus the sun's UV rays can penetrate plastic and the lead may drop out. Again, plastic containers are designed for transfer, not storage. How long will VP fuels last in an unopened drum? The length of time the fuel will stay fresh in a sealed drum depends on the fuel itself. A non oxygenated fuel such as C12 should be used within a couple years. I personally have tested some that was eight years old and was fine. As far as an oxygenated fuel I would like to see these fuels used within a year or so. This way you know the oxygen content is still within spec. Both oxygenated and non oxygenated fuels will most likely last longer than I have stated, but I feel that to ensure the best performance following these recommended guidelines will be to your benefit. http://www.vpracingfuels.com/vp-racing-tech.html |

Question then, does anyone know where I can get a spout for those VP M1 drums? The opening is pretty bad for pouring and wanna know where I can get a screw-on type spout.
