Update: Dealer damage. Scared to get it fixed
So my car went to the dealer twice for repair of air vents that were broken which was covered under warranty. The first time went ok but I had to take it back because the rear vent was not fixed because the part was on back order. I finally went to pick it up and the valet brought it around to the pickup spot. I started walking to the car and as soon as I got close enough I saw that the rear bumper was damaged
I immediately pointed it out to the valet and he went and got my SA. I was a little pissed but I did not show my emotions. My car up to that point had no dents or visible scratches. Well the SA came and looked at the damage and remarked that he knows that I keep my car clean and remembered that it was flawless when it came in (I felt relieved then). He went and got his manager who was very professional and said they would fix it.he then said to make an appointment to bring it in to be repaired. My problem now is I don't know what method they are going to use to fix it and if it will look original with the proper color and clear coat to match the rest of the car. The damage is not too bad but still stands out and the paint is cracked. Should they replace the bumper or can it be fixed some other way and still look good. Just got my car back and I have to say that they did a fantastic job with the repair.

It's a dealer. Why wouldn't they correct it properly? They made the mistake, let them fix it.

Sorry to hear that, at least they are owning up to it.
Maybe you should ask the dealer how they intend to fix it and then go from there? I doubt their first response will be to replace the cover.

There is no need to replace the bumper. They should be able to repair it and make it flawless. They should have lifetime paint guarantee on the work done if they're good.

Make sure to check up on their warranty coverage; most dealers here will cover up to like 1 year; other third party shops offer lifetime warranty. You could offer that option to have 'your ideal shop' do the repairs, like if you were in a car accident and having to deal w/ insurance companies.

Lot damage happens. It could have happened to you at the Walmart an hour later.
They seem professional and took responsibility. Ask them houw they propose to fix and tell them your concerns (that you expect it to look perfect.) You'll be fine. |

It'll be as good as it's going to be. I would ask how they will fix it and voice your concern. They can assure it will look just as before and you can use this to evaluate the work once it's done. Good that they are owning up to it and fixing it, let them do it after talking to the manager.

They don't need to replace the bumper. Just remove it, prep it, fix the dent, and primer/respray it, then clear coat...reinstall.
All should be good! Just a hassle though.

I hope this is what happens. I made the appointment today after speaking the the SA about it. He reassured me that they only use a very good onsite body shop and it should look good as new We shall see.

Sounds like you are working with a pretty straight-shooting dealer. Having them handle the issue the way they are would be the type of situation that kept me bringing business back to them. GL getting it fixed up man!

If they are being as sincere and professional as you say they are, then give it to them and I am sure they will fix it just fine.

I came in here thinking something terrible happened, and all I see is this little scratch???
You'll be fine. The fact that the dealer is taking accountability would be a huge plus in my book, and as far as future business. You should see what just happened to my car. Had to get a whole door replaced and basically my entire passenger side resprayed thanks to a numb-nut hitting me with no insurance. Things could be alot worse.....this is nothing.

I just got the car back after dropping it off Monday morning. I got a 528i loaner to drive and at the end of it I have to say I really missed the bucket seats and sports suspension on my 3Coupe. It's just more fun to drive also even though the 528i was nice.
I have to give Braman BMW props for taking care of this and doing a fantastic job on the bumper. The paint and clear coat match is perfect . The wife could not tell that it was repainted. Now for a BMS Powerbox. Thank you all for the feedback and support.
