LCI silver indicator bulbs

This has probably been covered before but i couldnt find it and thought it might be useful to some. Im upgrading to lci headlights and wanted to get rid of the standard orange indicator bulbs for silver ones but they're very different to the pre lci bulbs and are only available from BMW. These fit lci xenon and halogen headlights btw.

Only the M3 has silver ones and the part number for them is 63217161306, they're about £18 each , m3 silver shown on the left with box and original orange on the right.

To replace them you have to twist off the holder from the headlight (might want to use small amount of wd40 here, i had to) and then twist off the bulb (incl. its casing as shown below) from the holder. Then refit and repeat on the other side and your away

i'll post another pic of them on the car once ive installed my lci headlights, (just waiting for the white upgrade led angel eyes bulbs to arrive )
(sorry for poor quality pic, took it with my phone)

For comparison - pics of orange and silver below. I know its a small detail but details are the most important mods and its keeping it oem. nice and subtle and add to the overall look, plus its easy when the lights are off the car anyway

Orange installed in LCI halogen headlight unit

Silver installed in LCI halogen headlight unit

What about the wing mounted indicators, they are orange bulbed?

btw, I keep seeing LCI - what does this stand for?

Might be a daft question but considering the bulb is now silver won't the colour of the indicator be silver too? I thought by law it had to flash orange

They don't fit LCI cars with Xenons... Only pre LCI cars.

EDIT - Just seen this thread was from 2010!
