i always forget that outside of california, especially bay area, the gay population is still very much considered almost like an anomaly. it's pretty much a non-issue here, but it's interesting how a lot of people from other parts of the country still refer to them almost like an entire different class of beings.

Big SF clubber right here:

Ruby Skye is good, but for the next few weekends it's going to be mostly trance. We have ATB and Sebastian Ingrosso coming soon in early October/November respectably. Entry is least 20 bucks at the door. The closest parking costs a whopping $15 per night, and street parking is close to impossible to find on weekends, plus street cleaning kicks in at 2AM, and Ruby's is open till 4AM. This is truly the best club around though, the sound system bangs, the inside of the building is very nice (it used to be a theater before), PLENTY of space on 2 floors and drinks are nice and strong. The crowd, however, mostly single dudes, but no ghetto crowd whatsoever.

Another place is a club called Mighty. They play authentic house, non-electro. Entry is fairly cheap, me and my friends got in for 5-10 bucks a couple of times. Open till 4AM and sound system is better than at Ruby Skye (12-foot speaker towers on 4 corners, the best sound system around). Bar is cash only which is retarded, but they do have an ATM machine in the corner. People that we've seen actually go there to dance, but once again, more guys than girls.

And finally, 1015. Crowd is mostly Vietnamese people on ecstasy. 2 floors though, and music is house / trance. Open till 4AM. Interior is so-so, but the main dance floor is pretty large.

Those are the only places where you'll find only electro music and no hip-hop.

Other places are either house/hip-hop or straight up hip-hop. For house/hip-hop check out places like Vessel, Infusion, Supper Club, Slide.

That's all I could think of as of now. I suggest Ruby Skye out of all though.

I'm on the way now, should be there in the morning. Thank's all and I will see what I will do, I have to leave to Lake Takoe on saturday morning so I hope I find something there as well. I love Avalon in LA but I have not being there in a year tho.

Well it was a lame attempt at humor, but I'll expound anyway. Here in Chicago there is a pretty large gay population so it's not really that at all. I guess my general point was (according to people I know who've been there) that in SF it's a lot more integrated, here in Chicago, there are certain places where you would expect nearly everyone to be gay, and certain places with a very small gay population, and if people were it would be less than obvious. I'm sure SF is like this to a degree, but second hand knowledge tells me it is much more of an integration there, rather than a coexistence. Caught some people by surprise and can understand how it may be unnerving if you're not used to such "openness" (FWIW - personally I think any relationship should refrain from being displayed in any public situation, gay or straight - holding hands, a kiss here and there I get, but walking into a club and seeing a couple full on making out is in bad taste IMO)
