Multiple bulb failure messages

I was greeted by multiple bulb failure messages just

I think pretty much every one you can think of, rear brake lights, reversing light, indicators, daylight running lights. So both front and back of the car.

I haven't asked anyone to check the brake lights but DLR's are running, headlights look like they are working

Indicators seem to work but flash very quickly, like 3 or 4 times quicker than normal.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

sounds like your indicator relay has gone or are you sure all indicator bulbs are working?

Yea I just checked and every single light on the car works. All indicators do, but they just blink very fast.

SaysOn idrive, left / right / front / back faulty for every bulb and then drls left / right failure. Not faulty. But they still work. So I assume a different naming convention for those errors.

Anyone got any ideas on this ?

I think it might be the footwell module being faulty - anyway to reset it for the time being?

I had a light warning symbol come on (non-idrive car). All the bulbs worked, but a couple looked very slightly brownish. If you check the rear cluster, most of the bulbs are the same. Replacements cost me 80p each, so I changed the brakelights on the basis that they are used the most (in summer) and appear brighter. This solved the problem for me - but your seems more serious.

Maybe try buying a couple of indidator bulbs and swap those as the first option?

Lights Failure

Hi guys i had exactly same problem took my car to BMW in chigwell and they said there is a control unit that has failed, and that is causing both my indicator's to flash really quickly and everytime i start the engine i get running daylight's failure and fog lights failure messages appear. BMW in chigwell quoted me £619 to have the work done they said it takes 2.5 hours to do the work and it is not a part they keep in stock so had to order it. Oh yeah and they charged me £85 just for diagnostics!! In the end ive taken the car this morning to a bmw specialist in highams park to have the work done.

Hummm.... maybe you guys ought to try disconnecting the negative battery post for a few minutes. Then reconnect it. See if you still get the error codes. ??? You could not hurt anything by trying.

I only say this bc I have seen cars do wierd things.

Good Luck,
Dackel

I didn't want to D/C the battery in case i reset anything

But today, it seems it's gradually going from all lights reporting failure, to only some, to delayed errors after starting up and coming home, no errors at all even after using lights and indicators.

So, i dont know what the hell is going on.

I popped a fuse last year and was greeted with eighteen messages. I couldn't decipher the hieroglyphics of the fuse map and ended up pull every fuse and testing them. The last one I checked was the absolute last one I could check since I went through them systematically. The next day there were only seven messages. In testing them I'd put one of the fuses back in the wrong slot (not all slots have fuses) but it took the dealer an hour and a half to find it.

Has anyone ever taken the time to translate the fuse map to something that is understandable? Hell, it's not even in German!

Most likely the FRM (footwell module) but on an E92 check both brake light bulb contacts per side as these burn in the holder.

I dread the day I get any failures like this...................

I'd check/replace the bulbs first (cheap) but I fear the worst.....
