I would just say keep some money for mods and other purchases in a USD currency account, checked at Citibank, they have a curency account you can transfer money to, so can switch between any currency, the only catch is the min deposit is 10K.

Wishing i had some spare money right about now to take advantage.
At least it looks like it should stay strong for at least a few months.

Love that dollar getting high at the moment waiting on my m3 rear sway bar but likes like they have to lower the sub frame on my 335 i have done the front arms so while the dollar is high and the sub frame is lowered to install the bar might replace the sub frame bushings with m3 ones which i can get them from http://www.ddmtuning.com/ just under $300 for the lot delivered.
Proceed on order.

I would just get the recaro sportster cs, would be like half the price and its the same seat. Can also be ordered in same materials ect - obviously with out the bmw logo though.

local bmw dealership price for bmw performance seats was about $4050 AU per seat.

i just bought bmw pefrormance seats from an online store called schmiedmann in denmark for $4180 AU for both seats (shipping costs included and i have to collect from local airport)

i will have to pay customs import tax also. not sure exactly how much yet but was guessing about another $1000 maximum ???

recaro sportster cs are probably still cheaper than that.. are they? i have no idea. but i basically did get bmw performance seats for like half the price. with bmw logo on them too

i would estimate:

$4180
+5% Import Duties - $4389
+10% GST - $4827
+Customs Agency fee of $150 - $4977
+Airline Terminal fee min $45 (depending on weight) - $5022
+Customs Fee $55 -$5077
+Customs duties $100 - $5177

Still a great deal

I think sportster CS are about US$1700 each. Congrats on the performance seats though they are pretty fantastic.

Since the RBA made the ridiculously stupid decision of hiking up the interest rate, looks like we'll be sitting at parity for the time being.

Time for some new tyres I guess

lol, amazing value for money..they other day I went to a watch shop in QVB (Chris, the same place you recommended on the ground floor and asked if they could match prices or atleast offer me something close to US prices for a watch I saw and the old woman at the counter was all upset and like "No, Australia is not a US state yet. You will ask me if I can match prices of goods made in China, etc, no I can't",lol and she said it in front of a few other customers who am sure must have run and checked US prices.
Not sure what the connection between China and the US was when she's selling the same Swiss watches but thought no use arguing with her since she was my grannies age and she most probably isn't globalised enough or internet savvy and isn't pulling off enough sales, so didn't want to make her day any worse.
I can only imagine how local sales would have been affected by the surging Oz dollar.

It means our exports and local sales get smashed. Not good for the GDP.
