I believe 2010 was the first year it was shadowline on sports package and it was always there on M Sport.

Older model sport package uses silver.

Shadowline = Sport or M-Sport package

I find it a hilarious marketing ploy. If the relationship was reversed with chrome and shadowline, everyone would be clamoring after the chrome (for example: Audi). Grass is always greener on the other side...

I hate chrome...the only chrome on my car is the terminals for my amps etc for my audio system and my exhaust tips. Which will soon be replaced by black chrome or titanium tips.

It's not really chrome. It's more silver like the OP states.

I have an 07 w/ sports package and I have the silver trim.

I like the silver.. esp on black. It defines it as a BMW from afar, when a lot of cars are starting to look the same these days.
