Would you rather keep your E9X or get an Alpina Z8?

Would you rather keep your E9X or get an Alpina Z8?
I was at Advantage BMW Midtown showroom in Houston today (where I bought my car) and I noticed on the second floor, they had a used Alpina Z8. Never seen one before, but it looked hella sweet. I would trade my '10 E92 for that ride in a heartbeat, but I'm sure, even used, the Alpina Z8 is still in the new 7-series price range (didn't have a window sticker). The girlfriend saw it and she liked the Z4 better. Girls -____-
Would anyone else, if money was no object, swap their E9X for the Alpina Z8? Also, anyone know how those funkly-looking paddle-shifters work? I was afraid to touch it because it looked like the alarm was armed (and I don't want to have an employee run upstairs to turn it off) Last edited by WWONG; 10-18-2010 at 05:44 PM.. |

I'd love to have a Z8 (they were ca. $130,000 new, IIRC), but not an Alpina. Reason being that the Alpina version was only available with an automatic (Steptronic) transmission.
It is one gorgeous car, however - and pretty rare. Nice pics. Tom |

Dump the girlfriend. Seriously.
The Z4 weighs more than the Alpina Z8, has less HP, and is worth significantly less...There are only something like 500 Alpina Z8s sold, someday it's going to be worth so much more than the Z4. And no offense, the Z8 was something "special".

Hehe you posted a picture of your gf so you don't get the whole 'pics or ban' thing
She's cute and likes BMWs, so a keeper :P I'd definitely take a Z8 over an e93 335i or my currently Z4 But that's if money wasn't an issue for the $, I'd get a GTR, Porsche 997 Turbo, R8, etc etc hehe

+1, completely cancels out the point of owning such a car.

- not good looking or "out there" like an R8....at R8 prices
-i might be wrong, but my understanding was the Z8's performance was rubbish? compared to others in its class -repair price once your buy it? again..it just looks so thin and girly., thin lights at the rear...no muscular stance. and its performance doesn't justify its price. |
